AC problems 2016 3011DS

I am the 2nd owner of a 2016 Forester 3011DS. We love the RV except for the fact that the AC has stopped working for the 2nd time. The original owner told me the AC was replaced back in January. We purchased it from them in July and it worked fine until our trip to Florida last week. Next week I am taking it to the dealer that replaced the unit in January. Since I am the 2nd owner can I expect any warranty coverage? Since this is a major repair item can I expect Forest River or the dealer to cover any of the costs of repair? The dealer seems to be a reputable one in my area.

Any advice or insight from anyone out there on what to expect from the dealer or Forest River would be greatly appreciated.

Assuming it's Dometic? They have a two year warranty...these drop like flies(solder failure). I would get model and serial number and send an e-mail explaining the issue and what you should do. It is a known problem. I assume you contacted the dealer already??

Be nice and I bet they will help.

I had similar problems so you might want to read the thread i started. The only fix that worked was when they replaced the unit.

AC not working during pre-trip shakedown

Thank you

Thank you for your replies. I contacted both Forest River and Dometic. I was not happy with their responses and I am reserving any comments on those conversations until I take the RV in to the dealer on Tuesday. The only hope I have of getting any repairs or replacement covered is through the Dealer that replaced the unit originally. I will keep you posted. Wish me luck. I have heard the dealer I am taking it to has a good reputation.

Good luck Sir. I bet they will cover it. There are soooo many of those things salvaged.. They would never notice a few hundred more.

Your not happy about a response from forest river fully knowing that the warranty is ONLY valid to the original purchaser?

Smh 🤦*♂️

I have to thank RV WORLD, DOMETIC AND FOREST RIVER. RV WORLD did a great job of taking care of the problem AC unit. Also thank you for all the replies I received. They were helpful as well to getting the problem resolved.

Glad it worked out and it was good of you to post the result.

Hopefully the unit you now have will be trouble free.

I hope you're still here, Edrps. We are the second owner of a 2016 Forester 2861DS and our Dometic 15K a/c with heat pump is acting up. This shouldn't be on a newer a/c and I'm fearing that we are looking at replacement. How did you go about getting it covered? We just simply cannot afford such an expensive replacement.
