Always On Rear View Camera
We have a 2014 Forester 2501TS. The rear view camera is in the rear view mirror. Is there any way to have this always on and not just when in reverse?

Find the wire that goes to the backup light switch and connect to keyed power.

Believe you can cycle through the different views ( left side, rear, right side) using the mode button

Some of the cameras are not designed for full time use, meaning the frame rate is too slow to keep up with a moving vehicle traveling at speed. Sounds odd I know, but have seen it happen

You can turn the mirror on with the power button on it and see the rear view camera but unless you are looking at your trailer it will not do you much good. the view is normally just a few feet behind you. I installed another camera in the rear window with a 170 degree view out, aimed it higher and hooked it up to one of the other video feeds and use that as a rear view camera.

I use mine to keep an eye on the towd. Having driven big trucks that only use side mirrors having one to look at the towd is great.

Agree with rotkopf54, i found a setting in the views. Also adjusted the camera upward to see the entire toad.

We have to leave our lights on
For ours to work full time on the road, we have to leave out parking lights or are headlights on. Which is not a bad idea anyway! You'll find that info in the very last page and in very fine print of the instruction manual. We had to read it over and over again.

With the RVS camera system you should be able to turn on the monitor after the key is switched on. It will always come on in reverse.
You can adjust the rear camera from down at the hitch to back down the road. Either way, the toad will be in the view. Of your system is from RVS, the camera will have a 135 deg view.
I have the following in my Sunseeker. Download the manual as well as the install guide. That may help

I own an FR3, so this may not work for you, try it and see! Go into A/V settings on your radio display and turn on the Video setting to "on". In the FR3, if the video is set to "off", the camera only comes on when backing up. It might be worth a shot! Good luck!

The OP's RV should have an RVS (Rear View Safety) camera which is very good quality. The frame rate is excellent. As I recall on our 2500TS, there are a series of vertical buttons on the right side of the mirror and the camera control is the third button down. I was not even aware that they were there until the rear camera didn't come on. If this can not be resolved on the forum, the RVS tech support contact ph # is 800-764-1028. They are on California time.
RVS tech support is top shelf. When I was installing an RVS camera on a cargo trailer, I was trying to get the feed to go to an in-dash head unit on the TV. I couldn't solve the problem the the head unit installer couldn't solve the problem. We both agreed it was wired correctly. RVS solved the problem. The connector from the head unit to the RVS was proprietary though both looked the same. It was resolved on the phone. They sent an interface connector express mail and it worked. Who would have thought?

Thanks for all the answers this was indeed a simple touch of the button and a perfect rear view image appeared at all times. The image is about what I would expect from a rear view mirror.
Sadly, the dealer we purchased this rig from gave us no info on how things work so we are discovering how to work everything by ourselves.

I’m guessing you purchased your Coachmen used, so don’t expect the salesperson to be of much help.
Also....it will help with any future questions to list your year, make and model of your rig in your signature. If you’re having problems with an appliance on-board....like your fridge, furnace etc....make sure to tell us the make and model of it too. Manufacturers change suppliers constantly so your Coachmen doesn’t have to have the one and only when having troubles.

Thanks, realized I changed the picture but not the signature info. Yes, we bought used but the dealer still tried to charge a PDI without performing one, we did not pay it.
