Sometimes when they are cutting a hole into the black tank to install either a vent pipe or toilet, they let the piece fall into the tank instead of removing it. We have seen similar where it clogs up the drain pipe.
Is it rigid plastic, like of the same material your black tank would be made of?

Having taken more than one factory tour, I would say that dropped out of the hole cutter when they cut the hole for the connection to the toilet or the drain pipe. You're lucky it came out and it didn't block the opening.

Yep, that is what it is. You are lucky it came out. Mine blocked the black tank drain and they had to rework the drain pipes (under warranty). Of course I still have a pair of reading glasses in the black tank. They will probably never come out, or at least I don't think they have. I dropped them out of my shirt pocket when I was cleaning the toilet and down the hole they went. LOL.

I would email that pic to Forest River and suggest that they speak with their employees about that.

No, thin and flexible. Coming home from Mayberry, I had a clog that took a little effort to clear. This came out on our next trip when I emptied the tank.
It isn't a piece of the tank. Maybe a seal of some kind? I can't think of a place where it would come from and nothing is leaking......as of yet.

I wonder how much FS spends in warranty claims on clogs because of the practice of letting the cut out fall down the hole? I wonder what it would cost them if they did not let the plug fall down the hole? I would think there would be a little cost analysis and FS may find out it is cheaper to just take an extra minute to remove the cut out. Also, I would assume when you are building a certain line of campers the cut out would be the same for each of them. Which tells me they could be cut out prior to the assembly process and be ready to go during the build.

They can use the "Hole Saw" for Other needs,so the "Flex Piece" inside the Saw could easily be a "Stacked piece" from Other uses that was Not cleaned out of the Saw! Feel Lucky it "Flushed"! Youroo!!

Just joining the "found dropped in the tank" club. My black was slow to drain first three times. Then noticed the slinky was the problem. Found crescent shaped piece of wood flooring blocking it. I cleared it and reported it to the dealer who I hope? gives FR feedback.

I suppose if you buy your unit new...or clean very well and inspect with one of those cameras(where applicable) never know what you might find.

This is our third season with this unit, so I am a little worried that something gave way, broke or failed in some way. Or this could be just the normal breakage that happens every trip, just wish I knew what.
Thanks for all the help.

Talked to the FR tech and he said it's definitely a cutout leftover from mfg.
All good.

When I empty my tanks, I always point the business end of the slinky down a sewer hole. I guess the real question is, " how did you manage to see that piece of hole cut-out coming out of the tank and grap it before it went down the drain with all the other stuff?" Hmmmmm?
