Back up tips

I will take delivery of our new 3011DS soon. I live on a small rise that comes up about 6 to 8 feet from the street over about 20 to 25 feet. It slopes up and then levels. I used to back up my 40' Raptor with my F350 Diesel with ease. Since I sold both to buy the Forester, I now have a little apprehension about the Ford V10 doing the same. I seems to me that it should be ok, but I would like to hear other experienced opinions before I actually do it. When I test drove the Forester, it pulled up the hill ok in a forward direction and backed out ok. Thanks all.

You should not have any problem backing with V10. Reverse gear is pretty low in the Forester.

The clearance would be my biggest concern.

Rokslinger, your 3011 can pull stumps if you rig it right. LOL

It will do it,but I would be concerned about trans oil temp, backing slow like that allows the converter to generate a lot of heat.

Well that may be true turbo. All I know is that every so often I hear about fellers trying to pull poles, power poles that is, out of the ground using nothing but their power cords and it isn't the truck that ain't up for the task.
