Boso, winds were 25-35 mph and I slowed to 55-60 when atop the Grapevine. Otherwise, 65-70 mph.
For now, I 'm content with the Bilstein. Someone out there needs to get the Roadmaster and give feedback.

Sagecoachdriver I have had the roadmaster on two class c mh now first one was a 1998 28 ft jayco and now on my 2011 3170. big improvement on both and although I cant compare the roadmaster to the bilstein what sold me on the roadmaster was the self centering.

How was the install of the road master? I heard you also have to buy a bracket kit, is that so? I think the bilstein is just a bolt on to the existing Ford hardware and only takes minutes . Also, how much is the road master including all the hardware needed for the installation on a 3171 Forester?

The install was was easy and you do need a bracket kit I got mine from etrailer with the bracket kit for about $300. The biggest thing on the install is making sure your wheels are straight because of the self centering. I then had a front end alignment done and had them set the stabilizer where it needed to be.

Back from Yosemite trip
The trip back home was fine with very little control issues from wind and passing vehicles. Comfortable driving both the mountain roads and freeways. Actually handled better in the mountains than my Winnebago Minnie22E which had new Bilstein shocks and a new Monroe stabilzer.
Coming back, I got 8.3 mpg cruising at 70mph and climbed the I-5 Grapevine at 60 mpg with no problems and speed up to 70 near the top at Tejon. Watching my Scangauge, I could have probably gotten 9+ mpg overall had I slowed down to 60. I found in my Winnebago that I would have to take it out of overdrive at the bottom to climb at at 60-65mph with the engine screaming. Not with the Forester.
Anyone know if the TOW/HAUL is like the old overdrive button on earlier models? I would always use the overdrive "off" for down hills saving my brakes. I tried it with the tow/haul and it doesn't seem the same. There was some shifting and not smooth like the Winnebago. Towards the end of the mountains, I tried just shift to "3" and that seems to do the trick. Nice braking effect and smooth.

Sage if you turn tow haul on it will down shift for you when braking like a jake brake helps when towing toad also I have been researching the steering stabilizer and their are some problems with the positive gas charge on the bilstein sometimes making it pull slightly to one side or the other I'm going to let you get some more miles on your then get some more feedback from you

Going get mine an alignment next week. Then I'll decide on stabilizers.

That was the first thing I did mine handles very good when not being blowed by cross winds but the winds are part of driving hazards I have done about all that can be done except steering stabilizer and I ordered that last night while I could get it at that price certainly can't get the steering to good

Yes I looked at them a year ago and went the rear trackbar instead I could not get one last year as cheap as I can this year so I ordered one last night now hopefully the service dept. can stop those air bags from leaking that will be everything I can do except go to another Freightliner chassis and that's not going to happen again

What are the alignment specs for the E450 - I used the specs that Sage posted a few days (weeks) ago. I haven't had time to verify how it handles yet.

The specs are on the forum posted by bclemmens who works for FR. Sage did not do his by the specs listed and Ford specs are not as tight as the one you also have to add parts to get the correct alignment I have them but they are in my RV which is in shop but someone on here will point you in the right direction to locate also FR will pay for alignment

Boso, are you installing them yourself? I looked at them back years ago for my Winnebago but ended up with Steersafe. Had them on until last year and removed them prior to selling it.
