What kind of dish? Some only require a few switches be reset, others will require something different. If this is a new rig, try to get the dealer to do it for you,

They say we have to subscribe to dish for the dish hdtv satellite receiver to work. We have whole house direct,I just dislike changing everything over.costly too. I just thought when we are going to be traveling 2-3 months at a time,we could use our direct boxes, can't find out how to hook it up,we tried. Any info? Thanks

The antennas are similar but not the same. First you need a Directv dish, LNB and controller. Then just as at home you connect your Directv receiver and watch TV. Just be aware you will loose local stations once you go outside of the approx 150 mile spot beam circle of your local zip code.
