DW will not use cutout as she doesn’t know how full the can is and she wants the counter space for coffee pot so I took cabinet for my shore line power cord and EMS protector

We have 2 dogs and 2 cats, and want to camp with them. One of the cats is brand new to us, so we're holding off for a while, until he's more "adjusted" to the family. We are going to use the very bottom of that exterior trash compartment for the cat pan, and use a "pet door" (with a lock we can secure before we empty the trash) to cover the opening from the inside. We will then make a small shelf above the cat pan for a slightly smaller trash can to sit on, so that we can still use the it as the trash compartment as well. We'll also place a small activated charcoal air freshener on that shelf to help with odor control. This way, both "nasty" cleanups happen from the outside of the trailer, and the odor is contained nicely.

May I suggest harnesses for your cat and your dog.....we use one call sporn....when they pull it tightens so they can't get out of it. We also have seat belts for our 2 Basset hounds that connect to the truck seat belt.

We have two trash diving dogs. The trash hole on our 3011 was the determining factor as to why we bought it instead of a winnebago.

Bought a 2018 Forest River Surveyor 243RBS with the trash cut out hole and don't use it. Removed the trash can and the trash can retainer below the cut out so we could store our cleaning supplies (tote) in that space. Happy Camping!

We love the cut-out hole for trash. We use it all the time. It was very smart of Forrester to add that feature.

My apologies. Someone posted earlier in the thread asking for experiences good or bad with a forester. I probably should have resisted and tossed that prior comment in the garbage hole! I still stand by my original post. The hole was the determining factor for us going with a 3011 and it will be a requirement for any future RV purchases. It will either need to be present or I will need to be able to figure out how to put one in. If our dogs weren't obsessive can surfers it wouldn't be as big a deal for us.
