Do you use the kitchen countertop trash cutout hole?

Hey all,

We just got back from our shakedown trip in our new 2801QS. During the trip, my wife decided that she needed the back area of the countertop for storage while parked, and has given up on the idea of placing trash through the little cutout there and then emptying the trash can through the side of the motorhome. So, now we have a perfectly cool/good system going unused, and a trash bag hanging from the kitchen cabinet knob. I am disappointed, as I thought this was such a cool feature. Just curious how others feel about it and/or using it.

Yeah, we have friends that just purchased a Class B with that feature and felt the same way your wife does. Space is at such a premium on these rigs that most would rather store good crap there than use it for trash crap.

We had it in our wildcat fiver and wife has complained about not having it in our Rockwood following the wildcat. Now we have it back in the Forester class c and it's all she tells people about. I'm not crazy about it.

We use ours as it was intended. Very little gets to occupy precious flat surface space on our countertop. Take it out, use it, put it away.

We use ours all the time. That is one of the features that really got our attention. With the 3011 there is plenty of counter space.

I use mine in our 2801QS all the time, I found a Rubbermaid trash can that takes the white kitchen bags that fits perfectly and there is room for spare rolls of bags in there too. I find it’s only a small section of counter space to keep clear with the lid partially covering the hole and I keep my paper towel holder in the same corner.

That was one of the features on our 5ver I decided I was going to have to live with when we bought it. Now I absolutely love it. We do 90% of everything outside, it's nice to have access outside and just dump the small stuff inside.

2018 3011DS, we use it as intended, there nothing else I can think of that would be a good use of that space, othere then deeper lower counter from the inside.

In our rig.... the cook decides what goes where in the kitchen.

There could be other reasons that she doesn't like it... too far to reach, difficult to put the trash in there, etc.

We don't have one of those nifty trash things, but we have a friend who does and when he went to dispose of the trash, a mouse popped out. Hasn't happened since, but I wonder what was in there that the mouse found irresistible.

I love it, and use it all the time. Travel with 2 dogs, and do not need to worry about them getting into the garbage. Sometimes we remove the cover and cover it with a wood cutting board. Easy to slide it out of the way and drop something into it.

We use it. We are even getting quicker at catching the lid before it falls all the way through the hole...

We have a 2014 3050s w this feature and we love it. We have pets and having the trash off the floor and out of the way is awesome. For us, it’s perfectly located by the sink and prep areas. It allows us to keep counter space open and sure beats having the trash hanging around, tripping over, spilling over and/or having to empty 2 or 3 x a day. Just our 2 cents worth

We have the 3010ds with ample counter space. We love through top trash and can use it from the outside as well if you use a slightly shorter trash can. We don't put anything more than a coffee pot and occasionally a cutting board. I do have a couple of hanging nets for some fruit or just to keep things off the counter tops. If your ok with the trash bag inside coach the trash can compartment is very close to all the TV distribution components, maybe you can put a small entertainment center or be creative.

Trash Hole

We use ours all the time. If we need the counter space we try to place things that can be easily moved to drop in the trash.
Don't forget to empty the trash though...we won't do that again!

We had it in our 5th wheel Wildcat 282RKX and the wife LOVED IT ! Don’t have it in the current Winnebago MH and she really misses it.

HEY CHEATWOOD.....congrats on the new MH. Maybe now you’ll travel more. LOL.
