Draining water from main tank

Since I am a newbie with my 2004 Forester 255, I will probably be asking many questions. This one concerns draining the water tank. I looked underneath and found 2 hoses with white caps. Is this where I drain the tank? If so, do I open both? Why are there 2? My other motorhomes only had one drain plug.

Those are hot and cold low water drains, used when winterizing. Keep looking for your fresh water tank drain, mine is a petcock beside the frame near the back but could be anywhere.

I'm thinking you found the "low water" drains that drain the water out of the hot & cold water lines. There should be a valve under the unit with a handle that when in the vertical position (up or down depending on your unit), drains the fresh water tank. It's there, you'll just have to take a look on your hands and knees to find it.
Good luck!

Mine is behind a panel in a rear storage compartment next to the water pump.
