Dumping Fresh Water?

On my Arctic Fox TT there was a big low gate valve that would let you dump fresh water so you didn't have to haul it around at 8 lbs a gallon.

When I picked up my Forester 3051 the dealer filled ALL of the tanks to check for leaks. Ok, that's good.

He dumped the black/grey tanks but left the fresh water full to the brim.

Is there a way to dump about 1/2 of that fresh water so I don't have to haul it? I don't see anyway to do in on my unit?

M/T fresh water tank

Turn on the sink and flush it thru you grey tank before you pull your flex hose.

Not exactly sure on the 3051 but open the hatch you use to access the water filter (usually in the back of the storage compartment just behind the right rear tires) and you should see a little valve which is the fresh water tank drain.

If possible climb underneath and look in the vacinity of the fresh WT for a drain hose. That should put you closer to where your drain valve is located. Unless somebody who has your unit chimes in.

It is possible the FW drain is simply a piece of PEX with a nylon plug in it. It is usually located under the unit near the FW tank. Remove the plug and it will drain ( very slowly). Most people replace the plug with a 1/4 turn valve.

My Forester has two valves, one in the compartment by the water pump & filter. It's behind a black metal door. The other is right below under the camper.

Sometimes the tank just has a plug in the bottom. Most folks with this setup replace the plug with a valve.

Well, I checked and I have a Red (hot) and Blue (cold) pex tubing coming out below the tanks and behind the rear passenger side rear axle. The Red pex has a twist valve on it and when you turn it you can drain your hot water heater.

The Blue pex doesn't have any valve on it. But if you open the locker with the water filter there is a valve in the locker just above the extra tubing you would use to winterize your water system. Flipping that valve lever opens up the fresh water dump and you can empty your fresh water tank via the blue pex tubing mentioned above. It's slow but it works - easy peasy.

Yes. A wrench takes out the plug; a wrench puts in the valve.

My valve was under the tank, right between the axles. What PITA to get to. I installed an elbow and some PEX and moved the valve out behind the wheel where I can get to it. Painted it black and it disappeared in with the waste drains.

Looks nice. Curious how long it will hold up from the road debris coming off the tire it's behind.
