Dyson in 3171DS
Our new 3171DS came with a Dyson cordless vac. It works great. However, one of the first things we've done is move the charging station inside the coach. The charging station was installed outside in the compartment under the passenger side slide. That's a pretty inconvenient place as it requires going outside to get the vacuum along with stooping under the slide to get it. Just making a suggestion to Forester; consider moving it inside in the future.

We tried about 100 different locations. We were trying to be consistent (have it in the same post on all floor plans), but that was very difficult to do.
Trying to make it "out of sight" but "easily accessible" is very tough to do. In the end, we could make almost all floor plans work in the rear compartment. There is little chance it would be overlooked in the sales process and easily moved if you so choose.
Slide Fascia: too exposed. if we plug it into the wall, would the cord get pulled/tangled
Base cabinet: tough to see, would be blocked
Wardrobe: not all floor plans have them and we did not want to take up hanging space.
Shipped loose: too many would walk away on their own.
We knew two things for sure. It had to be installed and it had to be visible.
As a side note. We looked at these over a year ago and the other sales guys were not sold on them. I went ahead and bought one for my home (I already had a whole house vac) and used it 90% of the time. With two dogs that shed their areas were a fur rug in two days. Grab the vac off the wall, vacuum up, hang back on wall. Nothing could be easier. I started using the powered head on our carpets too. Our whole house vac would get jammed with a single lego brick...the Dyson, had no problems. We used it almost every day....so I finally convinced them to put it in a package.

Thanks for the response. I understand completely. Glad you convinced them to include the vac. It's a great addition.

What's the Dyson model name or number? We may consider getting one for our Sunseeker.

It is a DC35 I think, but they are phasing those out to a DC59. Rechargeable, so its quick and easy.

Thanks for your reply.
I checked it out. It's too expensive for a nice-to-have since we already have a very good corded portable vacuum cleaner. It's certainly a good item to put in your new coach.

Ours is a DC44 and we mounted it in the toilet space.....on the wall in a corner. Out of the way. Went thru many vacs and finally bought the Dyson last year. So easy to use and IT works!!

Bclemens, are they still putting the Dysons in the Foresters? We are hoping to order on in the next 3 months.

Bclemens, which dyson are they putting in the units? It may be several months before we are able to do a new unit. My vac is shot. Thinking about getting a Dyson now and leaving off when we order. I know if you are using them on all the units, there must be a reason for that model.

I know there are some new models out now too...I think ours will go away at some point and we'll just start getting the new version.

Which Dyson ships with the 3171DS, the DC35 or the DC44. Someone at CW removed ours before we brought our unit home and they don't know which one it originally came with.

Great idea, we have been bringing our rechargeable from home and just ordered a separate charger for the trailer. It is a great little vacuum.
