Exposed Screws on Roof ???
Have a 2012 3011DS. The 2 rows of screws going down both sides of the roof of our camper are not covered at all. Seems like they should be covered with dicor. Are yours sealed?

Don't know exactly what your talking about but anywhere moisture can seep in should be sealed especially if it is a screw on the roof

There should be caulk over the screw heads. You can get up there and hit them all with a caulk gun and they will be fine.

Ours is the same way. Dicor on front and rear caps but none on the screws along the length of unit. No issues thus far.

There is a layer of butyl tape under that entire trim piece.

So no worries then. Was wondering if they forgot to seal them. Tks for your input.

I would worry unless Dicor Self-Leveling or Proflex Polyurethanne was covering them, Even with Butyl tape water can seep under the screw head/

Not forgotten. That was just how they were installed and with the butyl there was never any reports of leaks and they wanted to be able to get to things if they needed changed.
However, perception is what it is, so a decision was made to go ahead and seal them as an extra line of defense and FURTHER insure they never need to get to them.

WE had the same issue with the two rows of screws exposed on the roof so I covered them with dicor. The Rep indicated that he had not seen a unit leave the factory with out them being covered/sealed . It would not matter how much butyl tape is under there the chances of leaking is great. I went to install drain extensions on each end /side of our sunseeker and the first screw I went to take out was rusted off about 1/2 way. So forget the drain extensions. Just put back in place what was left of the screw and re sealed the top with dicor.

Unless the screws are stainless they will rust then you will have a real problem, Never ever leave a screw head exposed on something like a roof. Just my way of thinking....

Tks everyone. When you get a new anything you think it's made as it should be....but those screw heads being exposed had me worried. DH for health reasons cannot get on the roof. So I take care of all the roof stuff

Any chance of seeing a picture? Curious to see what you mean by an exposed screw head?

Ottawapaul This is what the; screws look like. There is a narrow strip that goes down the full length of the coach and screwed down. This is not my camper but a pic that I borrowed someone else posted but looks just like mine minus the crack Got all the screws covered yesterday before I remembered to take a picture.
