Extended service plans

Anybody have any experience with any of the extended service plans? The Gump is out of warranty and I've heard many horror stories of breakdowns in the boonies that cost an arm and 2 legs to get fixed so I'm looking at something to maybe avoid that. We plan to take it to Alaska next summer and I'm sure everything is more expensive up there also.

Have company called Preserve. Like my life insurance, I've never used it and hope I never do, but probably will.

Honestly, there are very few posts I can ever remember where folks actually used their extended 3rd party warranty. I'd be interested to know direct experiences, too.

With 35 years in the auto finance and resale business, let me just say this: YOU AND ONLY YOU ARE 100% RESPONSIBLE FOR TOTAL UNDERSTANDING OF YOUR CONTRACT. It is binding. AM Best rates warranty insurance providers.
DO YOUR HOMEWORK. Profit is earned by selling MORE contracts and paying fewer major claims. Short term companies, say, in business for a few years LOOK GREAT. Huge income from sales and few payouts of major proportions. As client vehicle usage ages in the policy parameters, profit CAN BE ERODED. Use common sense and do your due diligence. Nothing comes free!
I am NOT saying warranties are BAD. Just use your head and not so much future predictions of POSSIBLE CATASTROPHES!!
Routine maintenance is almost never included AND proof of maintenance COULD BE IN THE SMALL PRINT.
