Final steering upgrade-Steersafe

2 alignments, Bilstein shocks and steering stabilizer, made the trip here to Quartzsite was an easy drive. Problems with wandering are gone, along with greatly reduced affect from wind and passing vehicles. Slight pull to left when driving at freeway speeds. I would leave it as is, but I had a Steersafe device on my old Winnebago which Fits the Forester and so I removed it prior to selling.
I spoke with Steersafe folks at their booth in the Big Tent. I had them come out for $30 and install it at my campsite. They replaced a few worn or outdated parts at no cost! It's ready for the trip home. I will see if it makes any further improvements. Can't speak more highly of Steersafe and their service.

Drive home from Quartzsite-WINDY!

The Steersafe performed great! No issues other than it took until Morongo to realize all the pull to the left was from the wind. Most of the time I had to hold it a 1 o'clock, but with only 1 hand. No more white knuckle rides. Terrible mpg of 7.8. Once the wind stopped, it drove straight with no correction for a good distance.

Always bad mpg up that hill against the wind- or even a cross wind.
When I go to the low dez- Glamis or Ocotillo Wells, I always get great mileage down...horrible mileage back.
I once got 7 mpg with my 4.0 Ford Ranger towing my 14 ft TT and 2 bikes. (3200 lbs).
7 on a V6.

Great to hear the Steersafe is working.
I went and thanked Bob at Bob's alignment for the great job and to give him an update with my added Roadmaster reflex (similar to yours).
Works so much better now.

I have got to get to Quartzsite one of these years. Always busy this time of year.
My Rzr would be really fun east of town.

Thanks again for the Bob tip, Total loss. I may bring mine back in and ask about the pull to the left. I was able to remove it today with a slight adjustment on the steersafe.

If it did not pull prior to installing the Steersafe, then that is the culprit.
The steering was not a absolute center when it was clamped down.
Just keep adjusting it until the pull is gone.

It was pulling to the left before and all the way to Quartzsite. Even when the wind stopped.. Installation at Quartzsite and a slight Steersafe adjustment has it straight as an arrow now.

May take a trip to Rincon next few weeks and test drive some more on less extreme conditions. Our daughter, an L&D nurse is off for 3 weeks and we can't decide on where to go. She's a surfer and nothing for 2,500 miles east of here.

Perfect time now for the Rincon- unless the tides and waves are up.
We usually do quicky trips at Ventura RV off Main St.
A little pricey but a nice place. Great cycling and motorcycling from there.
Even nearby waves within walking distance.

You don't get the sea spray and dampness issues as much there since it is protected by some distance and foliage from the beach.

I had a co-worker tell me he got the last site by the sea wall. Full moon, high tide and storm surge had water coming in the entry door. That's why we go to 100 and above near Faria and never under those conditions.

Are you guys talking about Bob's Wheel Alignment in Chatsworth, CA? If so that is where I had the front end work done on my 2013 3011. Bob turned that bucking bronco into a better behaving ride than my 2015 Doge Ram. I would recommend Bob to anyone with similar steering problems.

That's him! 1 year warranty, others only 1-3 months. Very happy that he knew about higher caster and aligned accordingly.

Yep and Bob had the adjustable cams in stock. He is fair, honest, reliable and knows his business. I take my vehicles to him for brakes and anything else he covers. IMHO the fact that he is a Vietnam Vet is also a plus.

Just called Bob and have an appointment as he wanted me to bring it back in after a few trips. Said something about an acceleration pull that he wants to look at and make some slight adjustments. No charge.
