Folding Kitchen table to bed

Hi I just bought a forest river 2251 sle and love it so far. One thing I don’t like is trying to fold the table into a bed, the cushions don’t fit tight like I’m used to in RVs. Is there a trick or am I just being dumb? And I did try searching for help with no luck

Mine came with two thin foam pieces that are supposed to be used only when it's made into a bed. They were in my cabinet over the dinette. About 4" wide and fill in the gaps nicely

Is your problem with the folding of the table or the fit of the cushions once it's down?

If your table mechanism is like the one pictured below, it is universally hated.


I found on mine that shooting some lubricant on all the places where it hinges helped immensely in folding it down and back up.

There have been reports here on some RV models that the cushions don't fit the "bed" when folded down. Either too much cushion or "holes" left in the "bed." It's just one of those (many) things you learn to look for when choosing an RV.

I have a 2503S and the two cushions that make the back rest next to the window fit very nice when made into a bed. I don’t have any additional cushions for converting the table to a bed. I did have problems folding and unfolding the table but found the the main issue there was cushions in the way and Velcro holding on to the table making it hard to open. Once free of the cushions and velcro the table moves up and down fairly easy. Remember to push the yellow latch sideways versus pushing on it as the book implies. One caution, the weld breaks fairly easily on the brace as it is not much of a weld. I drilled holes in mine, through the legs, and put bolts and lock nuts on. Had no issue since.

Thanks everyone for their response. This sounds like I need to talk to my dealer cause I didn’t have these foam pieces. But this exactly sounds like the problem if you put three pads down they are loose and then if you try all four pads they don’t fit. What a dumb design I grew up sleeping on table beds and I don’t ever remember this problem.

Like the others have said, a drop of oil on the pivot points for the drag link and work the mechanism until it loosens up. If your hard ware is like post #4
To Lower table: put your foot against the leg, move the latch and pull table towards you. As it starts to drop/fold, slide/lower table into place on it's resting pads and place the cushions.
To raise table: remove cushions. Lift the front edge of table, allowing it to pivot on the back resting pads to about a 45 degree angle. While holding at this position, lower the leg mechanism and secure the latch lever. Roll the table forward up onto the legs. Voila!

My cushions do not fit either. The cushions are too big.
I bought 18x18x4 foam (Amazon) and cut it in half and it works, but now I am wondering if I am missing some extra cushions.
Anyone with a 2017 3051S have the same problem? Did your rig come with extra cushions? If your using your 4 cushions from the dinette table, (two seat and two back rest) can you post pics?
My cushions are about 3 inches too big.
Never had this issue with my other rigs.

I will post pics next time I am around the rig. I have a lot of pics to post. (Mods and stuff)
