On my maiden trip, +65 or so, 7 mpg on mountain roads. After that 60-62, 8.2 mpg, flat roads, wind at your back, 9 mpg.

T&S do you have a Jensen GPS/DVD/Radio in your Forester? If so you probably have a MPG feature. On mine it's under Navigation > More > MPG (or something like that). To start using it you enter your ODO miles on a full-tank of gas and then every time you stop for gas you update it - with ODO, GAL and Cost. It figures out the MPG and the Cost Per Mile.

We were doing it on our phones all the time until we tried this. Now we not only have a record of miles driven, but the MPG and cost. I wish I had been clever enough to start using it from the day I picked up the RV ad the dealership.

I received the letter last month. Called my local Ford Dealer and they said bring it in. The fix took less that 10 minutes no waiting; just drove it in and drove it out. No Charge. 2012 Forester 3011 10,000 and change mileage overall average MPG 7.265. did not notice any significant change after the re-programing.

Went to the Ford dealership yesterday. Had them put in my Vin number and check for recalls. Our 2016 forester 3171 with a 2015 Ford chassis, did not show any recalls.

I've been checking at Ford's recall site
https://owner.ford.com/tools/account...e/recalls.html
and still nothing for me either. Wonder if was only engines made during a certain time period.

had mine done about a month ago. Been on 2 trips and haven't seen any improvements or losses of MPG's. Shift points seem to be a bit different and smoother but I might be imagining that.

You may notice changes with transmission shift patterns do to the module adaptive relearn process.

I am going out on a limb here, but I believe the recall most are mentioning is " 15E05" which only affects Ohio built 2011-2015 stripped chassis vehicles equipped with 6.8l 2valve engines. This reprogram will not effect mileage it is strictly to comply with EPA guidelines put forth allowing certain parameters to be monitored during emissions testing. If any of you are useing a programmer I would strongly recommend removing the program before you take it to the dealer for the reflash. Some here have stated differences in trans operations which will hold true to some effect as one poster stated the vehicle is equipped with adaptive learning for not only the trans but the engine operation as well which can results in differences usually better. Fuel economy should not change and if it does it would be small in either direction. The parameters that will be changed in some ways has been created from part of the fallout from VW's fiasco. As far as my personal stats,,, I currently work at a Ford dealer as a technician and have since 1981 been with Ford dealerships. Prior to that I was with GM for 4 years and an independent for 3. All of this does not make me an expert but if I can I am glad to help out..

I did not receive a letter but when I renewed my registration at AAA they wouldn't release my tags until I return with a "proof of correction certificate from an authorized dealership"

Good luck all!

I took mine in and the fuel mileage dropped about 1 mile per gallon! Not happy!
