Forester 3051 question

We just purchased a 3051! Very exciting! We will pick up in about 2 weeks. When we were looking at the one we were going to purchase, it had a composite toilet. All of the other Foresters we had looked at had porcelain. I brought it up to the salesman and he agreed. He did agree to replace it. I called Forest River today and they said they have started on the late 2016 models replacing the porcelain with composite for "weight reasons". I was alittle bit nervous about having them replace it. Figured I was just asking for trouble and leaks. What would you prefer? The composite is Thetford and the porcelain is Dometic. The dealership has agreed to replace it with porcelain. Should I let them or leave it be? What would you do?

Replace it! You don't want a plastic toilet in your $110,000 RV.

Don't even think otherwise.

That is very disappointing. We are awaiting delivery of our 3051, too. We don't want a plastic toilet.

We are buying a new 3051S and just checked with our dealer and they said that it came with a plastic toilet. Since the on-line Forester brochure at the time we placed our order showed that a porcelain toilet was standard, we expected to get one. Our dealer, RV WHOLESALERS, jumped right on it, called the factory and are getting a porcelain toilet delivered to them tomorrow for installation in our motorhome. Now that's what I call excellent customer service from our dealer !!

When I called our dealership, we got a totally different answer. We were told that Forest River switched to the composite to add the sprayer. She said that most people prefer the sprayer over the porcelain toilet without. What do you think?

Lol sounds ridiculous but I think most dealers assume you the buyer are probably uninformed and can say almost anything. Not only get the porcelain toilet also order the enamel covered wood seat as your first mod. You will not be sorry.

It's an upgrade accessory sold by Dometic at most RV stores and Amazon for replacing the cheap plastic seat the porcelain Dometic 310 comes with.

Yes, get the china bowl toilet. You can always add the sprayer for cheap anyway. Someone at FR made a bonehead move changing to the plastic toilet. And it should be corrected.

The wood toilet seat is a plus too. We added ours during the first month. Sturdy, taller and better all the way around from the plastic seat that comes on the Dometic High Profile 310 Series toilet.

I was looking at a 2016 Forester 3051S today when pickup up my RV from service and they made a number of nice improvements - but that plastic toilet was a real step backward. I like the folks at FR - but this was a silly move in my opinion.

Got to find me one of those wood seats , have gone through two plastic seats and at 70 bucks apiece its getting expensive

Go to Amazon they are $36 this week. . The wood seat is solid and won't break when you touch it like that plastic garbage.

The composite toilet reduced weight to allow us to make changes for the future and became more production friendly.

Oh, c'mon Josh. All we want is mahogany and porcelain that is as light as Balsa and composite. Heh heh.
