Frozen line to toilet

I just dewinterized my 2014 Forrester 3051s and was very disappointed to see water spaying out of the water connection on the back of my toilet. I think some water must have remained in the connecter and it froze and burst the plastic over the very cold winter. Have any of you replaced the water connection on the back of the toilet? How difficult is it? Thanks!

It’s easy if you don’t have a sprayer. Just a nylon elbow on my old thetford. You will need a pex crimping tool if you want to replace the band.

Not difficult to do. I have found that for me its easier to just remove the toilet make the repairs to the water line and or toilet inlet valve and then reinstall toilet because of the limited room on the rigs I have worked on.

You'll need to determine if it is the toilet VALVE or the water line connection.
Most times it is the valve but that all depends on the make/model.
Here is what the valve looks like...

Toilet valves are one of them most common casualties of winterizing without adding antifreeze.

5picker, perfect. That is definitely the part, and it is the plastic cracked not the line. Thanks much! I will know to winterize this part next fall.

easy way to remember if it isn't running pink it's not winterized (including outside shower) plus that puts antifreeze in the holding tanks. Good luck with the toilet

X2 5picker said, be sure you use antifreeze to winterize your RV. It takes no more than 1/2 teaspoon of water to freeze and crack the toilet valve. Most toilets have the valve below the level of the rim of the bowl. Using only air to winterize, there is a huge chance any water left going to the rim will flow back to the valve.

And I have arthritis in my knees and hands, so I had trouble trying to fix it myself.

Just like everyone is saying, simple fix! The replacement valve comes with all the parts you need. Maybe a 30 minute fix. I now go overboard with antifreeze but it’s cheaper than the $40 valve I had to buy in Austin, TX last year. Now that I think about it, maybe they saw this Okie coming!!!

You got off cheap. I had to pay $60 for one in Boutte, LA over New Years. I installed it but immediately bought another from eBay for $16.00 as a spare.

The exact same thing happened to me 2 years ago, only took about a half hour to fix. What I have done since that happened is after I run the antifreeze through the lines, I take old towels and wrap all faucets, fittings, everything that has water going through it, and haven't had any problems since. Had the same problem. The clips are really hard to get out with the toilet installed. I pulled mine and fixed it at the campground on the picnic table. Common problem I hear.
