Furnace Screens

How many folks have bug screens installed over the furnace vents? I do; however, according to the owners manual for Suburban Furnaces there is a WARNING not to do so. Interesting since most folks use them and dealers install them prior to delivery.

Not only on the furnace exhaust but also on the HWH and exterior fridge vents too. And don't forget those square holes on the bumper plugs.

A furnace vent without a screen is called a wasps nest.

Interesting I have never used them for 35 years and never had a trailer come with them, but I decided to buy a set last summer since wasps could make a nest........................ not had a nest though (probably will now that I have the screens .......

I must the luckiest man on the planet never having screens anywhere but on the windows for 22 years. I have had wasp nests built under my stone shield. Yet, never any in my Suburban heater or water heater, or refrigerator. There were no holes in the hose carrying bumper. The bumper had metal doors hinged at the top. Something I wish my Sunseeker had. I hate dealing with those plastic caps and got some spares in case I lose one with the hose trailing behind the RV driving down the highway. I have no plans to screen anything not made that way, now or ever.

Furnace Screens

It seems more RVs from Southern states have the screens, more so than other states.
There are flies, wasps, bees everywhere so I don’t know if I am imagining things. Probably we are more bug-conscious.
