Help....again! Electrical issues

Once more we're trying to use our coach and once more we are having problems. Pulled into the campground and started to set-up. Slide won't extend, awning won't go out, generator won't start and the radio is out.
Lights work, A/C works (thanks God!!!), TVs work, fridge works.
No breakers tripped, checked fuse box (two in stepwell and one under hood)
If someone has any ideas, please jump in, else drive home tomorrow. put it in storage until Goshen

The items you mention not working run directly off the coach batteries. The lights, A/C, etc., can run variously off the shore line on 110 volts or through the convertor even if the coach batteries are dead or have a bad connection. Check your coach batteries and cables. Try starting the chassis engine and see if the awning extends and if the generator will start. If so, you may have bad coach batteries, bad cables or connections, or maybe a bad battery disconnect switch. Check the cable connections on the back of the battery control center (outside). They are exposed and could corrode. Be careful. Remove the battery cables from the coach batteries AND the chassis battery before you work on any cable connections. They all come together on the back of the BCC.

Sounds like you have a bad battery cable or connection. Maybe several.

On our Sunseeker the items you mentioned not working are all powered from the BCC. I'd disconnect all the batteries, remove all the cable connections and look for corroded connections. If you are using a voltmeter to troubleshoot, be aware that a connection could be dirty and still show voltage across it but not have a connection good enough to carry current.

I believe the items you listed as not working are the items on our Solera that will still work with the battery disconnect turned "off". Believe there is an interlock on (at least) the slideout which does not allow it to operate with the coach ignition/engine on. Not sure if there are other interlocks.
So - I would look for issues between the battery and the disconnect switch. Corroded battery terminal? - someone recently reported such a problem causing his slideout, I believe, not to work. Battery can test good, but corrosion can keep sufficient current from flowing to operate higher current drain items. Blown in-line fuse before the disconnect switch? Bad connection on the disconnect switch input from the battery?
Just some thoughts as to where I would look.

Good Luck -

Jim

When you checked the battery did you check voltages or how did you do it? This issue could be tricky because the battery wiring is different depending on if you have a Progressive Dynamics converter or not. If your disconnect switch is open or failed the older style converter will powerup everything but the DC loads tied directly to the battery which don't seem to be working now. It also will not charge the batteries if the switch is open or failed. Starting the engine should also charge and powerup the battery circuit but I don't recall whether it goes thru the switch. I don't have my drawings to review with me. Even if the engine alternator charge circuit is tied directly to the chassis battery I'm not sure the BCC would close in on a dead or internally shorted battery

Sorry you didn't get your problem resolved.

I forgot to mention that you must unplug the shoreline before you work on the batteries and cables because the convertor would be supplying 12 volts, too.

Please post the fix for your problem so the rest of us can learn more.

Thanks

In my 5th wheel there a few mini breakers coming from the battery. They are about one inch squares with a micro reset button on the side. If they are in your MH check the wires from the battery to see if they run to these mini breakers. If you do, press the micro button and it will reset the breaker. This is what is on my Wildcat 5er.

With a little (LOTS) help from Mike J., I found the relay in the BCC and reset it. Everything is working.
Even better the fur baby is feeling OK. The vet couldn't find any thing and said it was probably a pulled muscle.
So everything is a go for Goshen. See everyone in a week.
