I found that the RV mode on my Garmin RV GPS chooses the "Truck / Towing" speed limit here in CA (55 mph on most major highways). I use it in auto mode to get appropriate speed limit selection here. Can use RV mode when in states without differing truck and car speed limits.

No sure what problems you folks are having - our Jensen GPS isn't perfect but it's pretty much equal with other GPS units I've used (we have them built in in our car and SUV). Does it estimate the time off by a little - sure - but so much is determined by the route it sets, the speed limits between each point and my average speed/stops, etc. It's never been HOURS off, even on 300 mile trips in my RV.

It does occasionally get the speed limit wrong. But only for a short while.

I used to have mine setup for "truck" but didn't like the way it effected the operation of the unit (roads, speed limits). So, I changed it to "car."

Again, I'm not saying it's perfect but if yours is hours off on a one hour trip then perhaps something else is amiss. Maybe the unit has a problem or you've got some odd routing or waypoint setup that you haven't noticed.

Ah HA...that's why it only reads 55mph. I will reset to automobile. Is there a way to make the font bigger?

It will probably will stay that way until someone sends the map vendor a complaint or fills in an "update" form on their website, if one is offered. I think most map vendors only fix what folks complain about...eventually...if enough customers complain...

Redldr1...I believe it shows the speed limit @ 55mph because I have the GPS set to truck mode. I will change it to verify but that makes sense now.

looks like I'm screwed too. it appears my device had its first GPS activation in September 2014. That's what I get for buying a leftover! I will probably pay the $65 to update but not until I hear back from their customer service. Might lean on my dealer a bit to try and get them to cover it. What extra's can I weasel out of them? already got 3 Maxx Air vent covers and the windshield cover.

On my trip from Maine to Florida a couple weeks ago I put my Garmin Nuvi on the dash and ran it as well as the Jensen in dash unit. The Garmin sitting on the dash was much easier to see from the driver's seat, the Jensen screen is too low so it's out of the driver's line of sight. I don't want to be driving 65mph looking down at the dashboard to figure out where I am. The Garmin is much more like a HUD. Garmin is much more user friendly overall. Searching addresses is easier, finding gas stations, places to eat, etc. much easier. My Jensen unit is going to be for listening to music from now on. My Garmin came with lifetime updates included.

I agree, I use my Garmin Nuvi in a more user friendly spot too! It is too much time with your eyes off the road trying to look at that Nav radio. Like others have said there are ETA and other routing issues. Routing going to Yosemite had me making a U-turn and heading back out of the park and taking another entrance in.

I keep wanting to hate the Jensen GPS, but after 6,000 miles it's been pretty good. Not great, but not bad either.

If it worked really bad I'd replace it gladly. It's pretty clunky. But it hasn't let me down too much yet. I've updated mine ($80!) but the database of POIs is the biggest letdown.

I agree that this is faint praise.
