Thanks for the info Creativeparts. Perhaps we should update our maps for $65 and submit claims to FR warranty saying we've been given outdated units, or is that basically what you've done?

Sage don't you think they will do another update in 2016 maybe Q1 if there last was 2015Q1 I asked them but haven't got a response as of yet but I think you get all the updates for a year when you pay for the update probably from the date you paid for it

There were two pricing schemes - one price for a one-time update and a $10 higher price for a full year of updates. I got the impression that the map updates were not all that frequent. And they said there were no guarantees that there would be more updates during the year.

We paid for an update this year and took the rig from NC to Missouri and back. The unit was able to stay connected and navigate the Ozarks back roads when my phone kept dropping connections. There were some roads that it didn't have a name for but it came up with proper names for every turn we took and it kept pace with Google maps at pretty much every turn. That being said, Google maps is free, accessible from my phone and ipad, and I don't have to fight the submenus. Even though we may drop signals here and there on the back roads the Mrs and I probably won't update the maps again. I can't justify the cost when my phone keeps up 99% of the time.

How much data do you need to do that would be cheaper for me to get 70$ update every 15 months

I have a 10 GB plan and rarely use 2 GB of it. The rest goes to the teens :-)

My DW likes to tether her iPad to her iPhone WiFi hotspot and use Google maps and satellite view. Gets her an aerial view and it lists POI and businesses.

Really? We only have 3 GB and never go over. Have gotten close when we had 2 trips in 1 month.

Hi,

I was able to get a free update yesterday. Took over 4 hours for it to download and install. It is 2015 Q2.

Tried looking for Wilshire in West Jordan, Utah. No luck. It just does not exist.

Hi,

I just picked up my MH in Ohio last week. The GPS had not been activated. I activated it yesterday and used the navi toolbox.

Benagi, I just checked Google Maps and it couldn't find Wilshire Street. It did find Wilshire Park Avenue. But no Wilshire Street.

The iGo search engine is pretty specific. While it might not find Wilshire I might find Wilishire Park.

Or is Wilshire Park a different street than what you're looking for? It looks like Wilshire Park Ave is a street in the Wilshire Apartment complex and not a city street.

I guess some things just don't exist on Igo. We stayed at a KOA campground in Ozark, Al. It was on google maps but not on the motorhome GPS. I found there was an Ozark Motel next door and it picked it up fine so used that instead. Works for me. At four months I am sure I am past the update cutoff time so will wait until I really need it done. Using the two (Google and Igo) together I found the Igo with the BUS setting seemed to direct me thru easier roads.

On our recent month-long trip we found only about 50% of the campgrounds in iGo and had to use a street address to get us close. And, then we switched to Google on our phones to get us all the way there.

iGo many times wouldn't have the address, or if it did had it a bit off. But overall it was sort of the same as other GPS devices I've used. With our travel trailer we used the Ford Sync GPS in our tow vehicle (Expedition EL) and it was just about as successful as the iGo in the motorhome.

At least Google is up to date on traffic and will suggest an alternate route if it's quicker.

Finally got my Free map update.

I went to Naviextras.com /Igo tech support and asked how to get my free update. I was beyond their 30 day window and I said activation was 2 months prior to my purchase. They said I should have said something within 30 days of purchase, and reluctantly gave me the updates as I only 12 days beyond. Who knew??? Anyway, I have update my maps and it took about an hour yesterday.

4 hours ? Was that on dial-up, DSL or cable modem? I'm running an Apple computer so I have to do my update on the local library's public computer. I don't think they'll let me use their computer for 4 hours!

I did my update on my iMac (with Win 8 running in Parallels Desktop) and it took quite a while. I did it at night and went to bed. It was done in the AM I don't know how long it took. But once I started it I could see it was slow going. I don't think it was my connection - it has a LOT of files and it does them each one at a time. They don't fly by.

Also, I had mine set to confirm each file to insure that it wasn't corrupted.

I'd kind of doubt the library would let you down load 6 gigs of info over a number of hours on their computer.

You could just install Parallels and Windows 10. However, it will cost you some money for both items. Like $80 for Parallels and $100 for windows. But only if you ever need to run windows on your Mac for some other important reason.
