Stretched it almost too far last camping trip....trying to get to the campground in the Ouachita Mountains in Southwest Arkansas and get set up....I should have done something about fuel before I went up the mountain but didn't...then had to come back down and find fuel in the nearest town....our 3/4 ton diesel holds 36 gallons....filled it up with 34.5 gallons.....DW says that just too close...I have to agree...lol.

Thanks D B. (BTW, we lived on Betsy Ross in the 80's) Tank is somewhere around 50ish and there's always 10-15 gal back in the Toad that I hope to never have to use.

Gidyupgo, LOVE the signature picture of the "RV leveling"! Where did you get that?

I look for gas when I hit 1/2 tank. I roughly estimate I have 400 miles on a full tank. Out west on I-90 esp in Montana the gas stops can be about 100 miles apart specifically in east Montana.

I did a Google image search for "RV leveling" and found it...along with a lot of other funny, sad but true, cartoons. My non-RV friends said I had everything on the trailer possible; I told them "No I don't, I don't have a DVR on the satellite receiver...yet!"

Why? well at 1/2 tank you have options to find the best price (for instance we have recently learned to NEVER buy Diesel in IN or MI - it's 20-30/gal cheaper in KY/TN).
At 1/2 tank, you now still have 75 gallons, Bob!

For those that don't know, IN diesel prices are a bit sneaky. At truck stops and most other locations in IN, diesel prices are posted with the word "EXEMPT" under them. If you're running under a DOT permit, that's the price you pay -- you're exempt from a higher fuel tax. If not, you'll pay about 25c per gallon above the posted price in fuel tax.
