How to clean new white vinyl foam ceiling?

Our new Forester has a foot print on the ceiling and my DW removed the warning label from the smoke detector and there is adhesive left. What is the best way to clean it? I thought alcohol for the adhesive and Mr Clean sponge for the foot print.

A foot print on the ceiling? Would love to hear the story behind that one. I'm not sure how it would affect the vinyl but in crafting I use odorless mineral spirits a lot to get off gummy residue. But just not sure how it would affect the vinyl.

I would try some Simple Green on a paper towel for the footprint - try an alcohol prep pad for the glue. Personally I wouldn't spray anything on the ceiling, rather I would put the cleaner on a paper towel or sponge and gently try cleaning it that way. On the other hand, the ceiling may be tougher than I think and you can blast it with mineral spirits, acetone or something like that. I'd hate to try the heavy duty stuff to find out the ceiling material can't handle it.

I removed a sticker from a wall in the kitchen and used GooGone on the sticky residual. It didn't work. So like an idiot I tried some GooOff instead. Ugg, it took part, make that all, of the pattern off of the wallboard and left a 1" white spot. We had to hang a clock over my mistake. So be careful.

Goof Off for the sticker adhesive,,,
Not sure if you have a normal white wallboard ceiling,,,
I would first try a very mild soap & water !!!
Maybe Murphy's,,,, or Dawn ???

Use peanut butter I know it sounds crazy but the creamy style will work as a mild abrasive and the oil in the peanut butter will not allow the glue to stick again to the ceiling it does not affect the ceiling

I forgot about this Tuff Stuff® Automotive Cleaning Products

I had some dirt and stains on the ceiling in my Toyota FJ Cruiser and this stuff took it right off.

To get the glue off I have used finger nail polish remover on a rag, not strong enough to hurt the roof but will remove the glue.As for the foot print(????) just a good vinyl cleaner.
