Ours is a Salton and we have had no issues with it.

There are 4 couples and 1 single who have started rving together and each one of us has an Igloo (Igloo Compact Ice Maker - Assorted Colors - Sam's Club). One couple has two and the single guy who tent camps with us has one (hooked up to friend's outside outlet on their rv and he keeps it either in his tent or in shade of some sort). We haven't had to buy ice once since we've started using them. Ours is on the kitchen counter during the trip and in a basket container on the floor when traveling. They put out a lot of ice.

We have a Salton/RCA/Igloo/Dometic. They are all made the same factory with a different name. $90 CDN at walmart. There is larger higher end one from Dometic at over $200.00. We have the walmart special.

Our Igloo sits on the rear kitchen counter 24/7, traveling or set up in a cg.

I agree, they all seem to be the same inside, including the very overpriced CW versions, with slightly different looks. We bought the large size and keep it on a folding serving cart between the MH seats. Cart goes under bed when traveling, and ice maker on bathroom floor. The Igloo brand was from Wally World on sale for $99 (now $119). Works great.

They are all pretty much made by the same mfr. but have widely varying prices. Best unit I've seen is the Igloo Brand at Sam's Club for $99. They come in two sizes and this is the smaller one, typically selling for twice this price! It is supposed to orduce 24# of ice/day which is plenty for cocktail hr. and campfire smoozing!

So we bought a Magic Chef ice maker from Home Depot this for 90.00. It works great and makes enough ice cubes to store and have a cold drink. When stored it lives under the table. Still looking for the best place to keep it when in use. Right now we have it sitting on the counter.

Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone. I'm going to be looking at Walmart and online for some of these. I HATE paying money for something that is going to melt away to nothing!

$99 Magic Chef @ Home Depot right now. Looks identical to the Igloo except for the screen printed name.
