My DW wants me to built her a shelf for above the toilet. What kind of wood are the cabinets made of?

Really Joshua? I thought it might be maple or even real cherry.

I think mine were made in china from tiwan bamboo. 3 months and 5000 miles and they are all comming apart at the corners, doors and cabinets.FR has agreed to adress the problem in our unit so what happens remains to be seen!Scary part is Ive seen two other trailers, both 2015's with the "dark cherry" cabinets (that are white wood where they come apart) with the same issue.

Price for a board foot:

Yellow pine: $3.35
Cherry: $5.95

http://hardwoodstore.com/lumber-prices

How much do you want to pay for your RV?

We have 40,000 miles on our 2011 Sunseeker 3100 and the cabinets are fine. I had to tighten or replace a few hinge screws. I replaced all seven lifts on the top-hinged cabinet doors. The originals used the attaching screws as pivot points. The screws came loose and the lifts rubbed grooves in the cabinet opening.

Will have to stop by the lumber yard with a cabinet door and see what comes close in grain and stain color. The shelf will go above a towel rod that I placed above the back of the toilet. It will actually be a long shallow box to hold TP and a few other things that may be necessary for showering.

Or you could do what I would since I have no cabinet making skills. Install something different like chrome or plastic or basket weave.

You have a good idea to put something useful in an unused space.
