Just purchased 2017 3011ds Few Questions

Hello All. Just picked up our new 2017 Forester 3011ds. Noticed one of my tires in back low. Not sure if I ran over something but just in case does any know what the tire pressure should be. I filled up to 55 based on the other tires. Also what do you guys keep your air shocks at. Also the smart panel in the kitchen. Is it removable. I have not watched the video fully that comes on it but will soon. Really love the layout of this unit. We upgraded from a FW 5000 23A.

We have a 2016 3011 and assuming that yours is similarly equipped, the approximate weight/loading is the same and you have Michelin LT truck tires, the range of your tire pressure should be between 70-80 psi. You should check the manufacturer website for loading and the corresponding psi to be sure.

Got my answer. Yes it is 80 PSI for the back tires. The Smart panel is not removable. Perhaps my dealer should learn.

2015 DS3011 Also

OK. you got your answer for the tire pressure. 80psi in rear and 75psi in front. I had lots of issues with loosing air on my inside left rear tire and also two flats on that tire. Finally had Discount Tires install long air valve stems on inside tire so I could easily check and fill tires as required.

I keep 80 psi on my axle bags.

Enjoy . . . we love our unit and have been all over the United States.

I have a 2016 3011DS and my tire pressures are supposed to be 75psi from and 80psi both rear. Look on the driver's door side panel and it will tell you what they should be.

Michelin Recommendations

I have a 2017 Coachmen Leprechaun 260DS which is on a 2017 Ford E450 chassis. The Motor Home came with Michelin Defender LTX - LT 225 x 75 x R16 tires. The door sticker calls for 75 PSI in the front and 80 (tire max) in the rear.

For what it is worth, I called Michelin's Motor Home tire department and they informed me:

1. Even if their chart of PSI by axle weight calls for less than the door jam - to go with the door jam.

2. Over inflating by 2 or 3 PSI (say 83 on a max 80 tire) due to the tire pressure guage imperfections is ok.

3. If the tires increase 15 PSI from cold pressure on a hot day, that is ok. Basically, as long as the max 80 PSI tires stay under 100 PSI when hot, it is not a problem. I notice that on a very hot summer day, the tires can heat up to 95 PSI from a cold pressure of 80 PSI (all as measured by the TPMS).

4. While I would never drive it, the max speed for these tires is 106.

5. Since tire temperatures will approximate the outside temperature, if driving out west in the summer with outside temps over 100, tire temperatures over 100 are ok. Just do not let the PSI exceed 100.

As I recall, the standard TST guidelines for when to alert you are (for an 80 max PSI tire) - 10% drop in PSI (i.e.; 72), a 20 - 25% increase in PSI (i.e.; 96 - 100), or a temp of 158 degrees F.

I hope this helps others - note that I can not speak to trailer tires.

As a Tire Professional I would run them at the door specs. The Tire Information Placard in the door jamb of your coach is required by federal law on all vehicles sold in the U.S. Whatever it says, your tires should never be under those pressures. A 10 ply (load range E) tire that is on your coach will hold the tires maximum weight rating at the next lower rating (which in this case is an 8-ply, or load range D). that pressure is 65 psi. However the extra air is there to help the tire dissipate heat. so the more air in your tire (up to its maximum pressure) the more resistant to heat your tires are. 80 P.S.I. Cold can fluctuate quite a bit due to heat. the hotter it is the more the air in your tires expand.
