Looking at new Forester 23
Our second trip to the dealer today. Took the shoes off and crawled all over it. Locked the door and told everyone else to go away. I'm still vacillating daily, that's about half of my life savings. But I'm afraid if I buy something cheaper, I'll be disappointed.
We couldn't find anything to hate. And we have on six previous rigs. It's an hour away. Next time I'm going to tell them that I want it hooked up for the whole show.
We like it. I'm hooked.

I'm with you as far as "about half of my life savings". We talked about getting back into an RV after 15 years without one. We bought a Coleman travel trailer to save money and got on the road. We loved the trips but hated the trailer.
3 months ago we went to the RV show in Tampa and came home with a Forester 3051S. You sound like me. I crawled all over ours too and had 5 days to do it since it was stuck at the fairgrounds. We couldn't find anything to hate about it then (if you don't count all the people going through MY rig all week), and we still haven't
If you think it's what you want to do and think you'll regret it if you don't then you already know the answer. We are loving ours and have no regrets.
I wish the same for you.

Forester 3051
Why did you folks choose the 3051 over the 3011?
I'm trying to decide on either one.

Looking at new Forester 23
Personally on our 3051 we like the full slide on the one side and the door side not having one. Trash bin piece in the 3051 is just awesome and a nice touch. No need to carry trash out thru camper.
Like the angled kitchen as well everything in easy reach when cooking etc.
For us the 3051 was the first one the DW walked in and said "this is it". Looked for couple years.

Bottom line overall....if you like it and can't find a reason to not do it then you have found the one for you.
I know when we found ours I read every review etc I could find and basically between us really liking and nothing major in the reviews we went for it.
Only question I would have is if you looked at any with slides? Don't think the 2300 has any. May be wishing for more inside space depending on length of trip. Just a thought...

We've got a 2301 and we love it. We've taken it cross country from Florida to Death Valley, CA (30 day trip) Maine to Florida (Key West) twice, Myrtle Beach, Smokey Mountains for several one or two week trips. We didn't want a slide out due to the the number of issues I've heard about with them on this forum. For my wife and I it's got plenty of room. I will admit the toilet/shower area is a bit tight but once you get used to it, not a big deal. I really like all the outside storage under the rear bedroom. The biggest thing I like about the 2301 is that I can park it just about anywhere...it will take up 2 spaces front to back in a parking lot, but having driven tractor trailers and school buses earlier in life the rig feels like I'm driving a minivan.

The space thing always gives me a chuckle cause we started out with a van, moved up to a 20 footer and now want to go to a 25 footer. Eventually we'll all end up in a 50 foot bus. Actually I'm thinking of carrying around a "glamping" tent for longer stays. A separate room with a blow up bed. Cost about $400.

I don't know about glamping.....the memory foam mattress FR put in the rear queen is nicer than the one in my house! I sleep better in the camper than I do at home.

You may have convinced me to change to the 2290 w/slide. It's only $2k more.

We had a hard time choosing between the 3011 and the 3051. Liked the kitchen layout in the 3011, but the bathroom/bedroom in the 3051. Ended up getting the 3011. Love it!

That was pretty much our dilemma as well. We also opted for the 3011 and the layout has worked really well for us in the one year that we've had it. Good luck with yours.

I thought I had made up my mind on the 3011 but then I looked again at the 3051 and decided on that. I liked the layout better. My husband and I sit across from each other when watching TV instead of in a line. When we have company, it's easier to have a conversation that all sitting lined up in a row. I found the dinette very uncomfortable to sit at. At first I didn't like the sink area out in the open, next to the kitchen, but the more I thought about it, the more I liked it. There is so much room there for me to put on makeup, dry my hair and my husband can be showering. If we have company, I just shut the sliding door to that bath/bedroom area. I am thrilled with my decision. Everyone has to decide what is most important to them.

You're right Gandb, everyone has to figure out what works for them. 15 yrs ago we drove our Winnebago motorhome all over the country for 2 yrs. Then bought a home, sold the motorhome, helped raise grandkids and talked about the wonderful things we saw when rving.
Now we figure we don't have a lot of years left to be super active and instead of waiting around for interesting things to happen, we took a chunk of money and bought a little class C Forester on a Ford Transit chassis and are going out to make interesting memories. My friends thought I was nuts since my husband isn't well and I have to do almost everything.
I looked for the smallest one I could find with separate sleeping areas, cameras, generator, room for 2 batteries and solar plug. I am happy taking a minimum of clothes and stuff. Discovered we don't need all that much and don't even fill all drawers up.
Took 9 day trip to Florida in April to check it out. Learned a lot. We leave in June to head west and north and will return when we feel like it. There's an excitement in my husband's eyes that has been missing. And I'm busy giving him something to remember.
Yes, it is worth it for us.
