Looking for Ford dealer in Lafayette, La. to work on my E450.

Need some repair work on my Ford chassis, but I can’t find a Ford dealer who works on RV’s. Anyone in the Lafayette, La. area know of a dealer that works on motorhomes. Probably need to lift the motorhome to work underneath. I have a Forester 3011DS. Gander RV says it’s a Ford issue, so they won’t touch it.

Sorry to see you are having the same difficulty I am. Ford won't do it cause "It's a motor home". Don't seem to care it is still a Ford chassis with Ford components. Having the same difficulty here in WV.

Does it really require a Dealer?? What about a private shop?

If the chassis is still under warranty call Ford customer care 1 (800) 392-3673(even if its off warranty they could give you some shops that handle bigger rigs), they set me up with a shop to do recall work with a local dealer no lift involved. actually made the appointment while I was on the phone. For oil change and tires I go to a local independant truck shop

Nobody tells you when you buy a motorhome that Ford dealers won’t handle motorhomes or that your Ford warranty started the day it was delivered to Forest River, if you can manage to get a Ford dealership to do the work. Many commercial truck shops will work on motorhomes but will Ford cover the warranty costs on newer units? Maybe we need a class action suit to get Ford to cover warranty work at other shops if they can’t get their dealers to do the work. It ain’t right and the RV dealers don’t tell you that you are on your own on Chassis warranty work...

Still looking. The work I need to have done is replacing a shift position sensor which can only be done from underneath the chassis, or so I’ve been told. I will call the Ford customer service number for help. Thanks to everyone who replied to my post. I will follow up after the work is completed.

If that's all it is any mechanic with some Ford experience can change out a shift position sensor in under an hour.

Does it require lifting the RV to work under it? I have no idea where the sensor is located.

I have done that on pu trucks on a creeper but that MH may need to be lifted. There are a lot of young guys who think everything needs to be on a lift in the shop.

NOT TRUE. The warranty starts the day the MH is bought by the owner, this is by LAW. Those chassis can sit for a year or more on the back lot at the builder, then a year or more at the dealer. When you buy it the paperwork to Ford to get the MSO starts the warranty. Sometimes the dealer screws up and there can be problems getting it fixed. When I bought my MH used, the dealer told me that they would notify Ford and Thor and they did not. Ford was easer to fix than Thor.

I called Ford on a warranty issue. They told me the warranty began when Forrest River bought the chassis. Of course, I called one day after the warranty expired. No go with Ford. I had to pay.

You were given bad information by the person you talked to. Thor took delivery of my chassis in September of 2014, yet Ford payed over $10,000 in October of 2018. The warranty started when the original owner bought it in November of 2015.
