Lowering the Awning

Hello! My husband and I just bought our first RV - a '17 Forester 3051S. Love it! Does anyone know if the auto awning on the Forester 3051s can lower down to a height that is reachable for clipping lights?

Absolutely. Just extend it out once it's out pull the roller tube down to you and lock the arms so you can reach to put lights on. Then unlock the arms and the awning will raise back up. It's a great unit you will love it.

You all are great! And Fast!! One more question - is there a tool of sorts to pull the roller tube part down to me? ...sorry. I just am terrified of breaking something.

Just grab the side bar and pull. The awning is on gas struts and will move easily.

No tool. Just make sure the knobs are loose before you pull it down. Tighten the knobs to hold it down, untighten and let it go to raise it.

Congrats on the purchase - we love our 3051

Our '14 has the knobs on the slide brackets - as noted already just make sure they are loose, pull the awning down to where you want it and tighten.

For the lights - if you look at the awning tube toward rear of the coach there are also slots available for sliding in light hangers. End toward the front of the coach is not open as that is where the mechanicals are for open and close. It is in storage or I'd post a pic as well.

We slide them in and string the lights through the hanging hooks - just need to remember to take them out before rolling up the awning.

The Solera electric awning on my 3051S doesn't have any locking knobs. It does have gas struts and you can pull down one side or the other to help rain runoff or to reach the roller tube.
Am I missing something?
Can the Solera awning arms be locked when the awning is open?

I also have the Solera electric awning and do not have knobs to tighten to lock down a side. This new awning also has speakers mounted to it that appears will prevent us from using our sun shade (speakers block access to open slot to weave shade into).

Need to use awning poles to tilt the awning during a rain and keep it from jumping around in the wind. See Turbs for poles, etc.
