Manual slide on forester 3011 2016
Can any one tell me how to manual slide in slide outs on my forester 3011 2016. I cannot figure out either slide. I don't want to be on a long road trip and get stuck because I can't figure out how to slide in my tip outs.

Are your slide systems "Schwintek", if so there is a drive motors on each side that has to be "Disengaged" then the slide is "Pushed In Manually"! Unless they came up with a Easier way?  Youroo!!

There is a set screw on the schwintek motors that would need taken out to disengage the motors. You can see it if you pull back the trim on either side.
The Lippert above floor slide in your living room has a nut head accessed from the storage compartment below. You can use a 5/8 Socket, Open ended wrench, or boxed wrench to bring the slide in and out manually.

Joshua, once the slide(s) are in, must you install a traveling rod to secure it from moving? Mine came with 2 that are 20" long and both of my slides are much deeper than that.

Sage, I was told to only use the rods if the slide is broken or creeps on you. If everything is working properly, you shouldn't need them. Also, I have read that some who have used them in the past on a working slide and forgot to remove the rods, ended up damaging the motors when extending the slide.

I was told the same thing that they weren't needed on on a daily basis as the motors keep it in. But does if you manually have to bring it in, do you need the rods. If I remove the motors on the bedroom Schwintek, what's to hold it in? The Lippert above floor system has the 5/8" nut to turn with a ratchet, will the motor still hold it in?

I know on the Schwintek slide if you disconnect the motors, you have to use the rods. On the lippert slide when you manually bring it in, I'm not sure either. Maybe someone else can answer the question for us.

If you brought the "Above Floor Slide" in with the Manual wrench/nut/drive the slide Will stay in place because of the Gearbox reduction gears!  Youroo!!

OK, case closed on Lippert Above Floor Slide out!
But our Schwintek slides will have to have the motors detached and in my opinion there is nothing to hold the slide-out when manually pushed in.

Anyway, I am making up a pair of slide-out travel rods for the Schwintek just in case.
Using pipe donated by my neighbor (electrician) and the DW who has the rubber ends sitting in a drawer. Total cost 20 minutes time. Just have to cut to length tomorrow.

We do have rods. DW has our unit in Grand Jct. at a dog trial right now . Will have to check length when she gets back tomorrow.

I wonder if the OP Kc2427 received traveling rods?
Ben, curious to see what size rods you got with yours. I will post a photo of the correct ones tomorrow once I cut it with the ones they gave me.
Ben, that's GREAT that the DW drives the MH. Mine DW does also, from the potable water hose 30 ft straight to the dump station with me guiding her.

2 -2 by 4's cut to size Lowes or Home Depot will cut for you if you get in a bind on the schwintec slides

Found in the Schwintek manual page 8 that you may only need to unplug the motors from the controller and push the slide in with lots of help. Then reconnect the motors to the controller. Reconnecting the motors hold the slide in place. If necessary to unscrew motors, then traveling rods are needed to secure it.
