Microwave should be getting power?

i plugged into my home power to get the frig to temp. Nothing happened. I then realized that I had not turned on the coach power. I was confused (newbie here, that feeling is continuous) because I've become accustomed to looking for power at the microwave clock. Check. But wait, if I haven't turned on the main power, why is the microwave on?

What am i missing?

Thanks for your consideration.

The main disconnect switch turns off the 12v side of things. If plugged in, your 120v stuff all are operational.

Refrigerator, if a typical RV type ( propane and/or 110 volt) requires both 12 volts (for the control circuitry) and either 110 volts or propane. Won't run with 12 volt main disconnect turned off.

In actuality if connected to shore power battery is not needed (can be disconnected). 12 volt power will be supplied by converter.

In my experience 12-volt would be supplied if the battery disconnect was not in the off mode. But since it is then the 12-volt applications on board will not be powered up.

If this is a requirement when connected to shore power for the Forester then I stand corrected. Didn't realize there were still units out there that have not come into the 21st century.

If the disconnect is on, the only 12 volt items to run will be slideouts and a couple other things directly connected to battery. Even in the 21 st century. Turn your disconnt and you will be in good shape. We have a Lexington, runs the same way.

I learned the hard way and left the switch off while on shore power the night before we were going camping, just like we always did with our 1997 Minnie Winnie and found out the next morning my fridg wasn't cold any more. Fool me once but not twice.
