Mounting a TV

We bought our first Motor home in November a 2005 Forest River Forester and I want to mount a TV in the box that is designed for TV. My question is does anyone know the distance between studs in motorhomes. I have a stud finder but I'm not having much success finding a stud or studs to screw the TV mount to. Thanks for your help.

Are you talking about studs in the outside walls?

Forester framing is aluminum tubing. A magnetic stud finder won't sense them.

There is no regular spacing. They are placed wherever they are needed such as around windows, slides and doors.

I've seen the framing outlined on our Sunseeker. When it's cold and humid, and the coach is heated, the heat loss through the framing prevents condensation on the outside walls.

No inside mounting. Since they are made of aluminum how do you find them?

I wasn't clear. I meant on the interior side of an outside wall, rather than on an inside partition or cabinet.

Other than observing the condensation tracks, I don't know how to find the framing.

Hopefully someone can give some advice.

You can find aluminum framing with most stud finders. Most use ultrasound, so it makes no difference what the framing is made of.

So there you are. I'm behind the times. The stud finders I'm familiar with are magnetic and actually find the nails.

I have a stud finder over 20 years old and it will find wood or aluminum studs it uses the density of the wall to find them.
