Mounting rear view camera

I'm going to install the RVS camera on the Forester. It will be at the top, a few inches below the center marker light. Can anyone tell me what the wall construction is? Thickness? Is the outside wall thick enough for wood screws or small lag screws, or will a toggle anchor work. The RVS camera is fairly heavy. 22 oz. according to the spec. sheet.

I just used regular galvanized wood screws with a good caulking to seal and help adhesion.
I did not drill through the wall- I tapped into the clearance light for power.
I do have to leave the running lights on to operate.
Wireless transmitter attached.
Seems to work good.
I do get interference form time to time.

Any luck on running the hard wire.
I thought about attempting that down the road for less "stuff" to deal with.

Thanks for the reply, I received the wired camera a couple days ago and installed it yesterday. I ran the wire down the back of the RV through 3/4 inch pvc conduit and then I'm running the cable under the frame to the firewall and coming in to the cab there.
I used 1/4 inch by 1 inch lag screws to mount the camera.

Use stainless steel screws to mount the camera. They won't rust.

I am installing a wireless transmitter on my camera but I plan on hard wiring it to the front of the camper and placing the transmitter there. That will cut down on 30' of distance and camper that the transmitter will have to contend with. I think that will improve the consistency of the signal.

FYI: Technically they can, they just won't stain. If you've ever left a fork for too long in a stainless sink you will see rust forming but you can scrub it away. If while installing the screws you hit another kind of metal, electrolysis will occur and the screw can rust. As hard as stainless is, it will take a very long time for the screw to deteriorate though.

Actually had it happen to me when a third party installed a railing on my boat accidentally screwed into my gas cap flange. The screw rusted out within 5 yrs.

I installed the RVS camera on mr Rockwood 2608. I decided to make a mounting plate out of starboard to give it a sturdy and secure install. I just didn't think mounting directly to the unit was secure enough. I just you can use other materials but I thought starboard was the best being impervious to about everything. So far after 20k of travel it's working well and holding tight.

There are several grades of stainless. On our boats in saltwater 316 stainless holds up very well. High quality stainless screws holding 316 stainless steel bow rail newer rusted after 15 years in the water year round.

That is correct, stainless on stainless will be fine but any other metal and it will accelerate to rusting process.
