Moving up

We are in the process of upgrading our 2015 Forester 2651s to a 2016 Forester 3051SF. There were a few things we didn't care for in our 2651 and wanted more internal storage and overall room inside for when we take our grandkids. Is there anything I need to be aware of with the newer 3051? Ant comments would be appreciated.

We have the 2015 3051s and it's terrific. We're biased but think it's the best floorplan available. The 2016 is little changed, but the few improvements look good to me.

Thanks Creativepart! Overall we were very happy with our 2651, other than it had very little internal storage which drove my wife crazy. We managed to put 10k miles on last year before deciding to go bigger. We signed yesterday and will pick it up Thursday. It is amazing the difference inside with the slide out. I was/am nervous about the big slide but we will love the room. Thanks for your response.

The 3051 has so much internal storage that we actually don't use it all. The cabinets above the sofa were pretty much empty for the first 6 months - now we store extra supplies of plastic cups and plates up there with a few sofa throws, too.

We use the space under the sofa for 12-packs of soda, and some wine storage with a wine bottle case laying on it's side.

I put gas pressure springs on the storage under the mattress to make that usable but it's empty most of the time.

We had a 26' travel trailer before the Forester and after moving everything from the TT to the RV we had only utilized about 60% of the space and that was everything we needed.

One thing to keep in mind is weight considerations. There is enough room to overload the RV if you really fill it up.

Thanks again Creative Part. I didn't even realize there was storage under the mattress! I will have to take another look at that. I understand that you could easily overload the unit! It will be nice to have it available when my daughter, her husband and our two young grandkids come along. No more trying to find a space for all the extra stuff!

For us it's just my wife and I and our small dog. Which is extra roomy. Our daughter sometimes joins us for dinner or a movie when we visit but she has no interest in "camping." No grandkids yet either. So, all the room is a luxury.
