New 2017 Forester 3051 Owner!

We are extremely excited to move up from our old travel trailer up to the class C motorhome. We have had it three months and absolutely LOVE it! So far we have been on about six trips both big (Disney, Florida panhandle) and close to home in the Georgia state parks. There are a few concerns I wanted to check and see if anyone had input. I know the rv is still under warranty but we had to buy up in SC and I would prefer to fix small items myself if easily resolved rather than going up two times to pick up and deliver:
1. When driving in heavy rain a small amount of water seems to come in under the slide right under the dinette area. I assume it's from water coming up from the road but don't see any obvious gaps.
2. We have a great set up on the TOAD but the Jeep seems to wiggle slightly behind the camper on the expressway. It's not crazy bad but annoying. We had the Hellwig front and rear sway bars put on, an alignment done and a Safe T Steer added and it still seemed to exist. I just purchased the Blue ox hitch stabilizer to see if that helps but have not installed it yet.
3. The A/C seems to act a bit odd. For example, while traveling home from Florida it would cut off for maybe 15 seconds and come right back on. It cooled the entire way as it should but it seems that this would wear on the A/C unit, or is it normal? (BTW when in Florida it was EXTREMELY hot and the guy at camping world suggested these foam plugs to go up in the roof vents to block the heat, they worked GREAT!)
Anyway, I thought I would check here before scheduling a warranty visit to make sure these issues weren't user error or normal. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Also, here is a photo of the clean up before the Florida trip, again, LOVE this RV!

I have a 2015 3051s. The air conditioning issue is normal. What's happening is that it is switching fan speeds between high and low and back again. I know the speed doesn't seem any different but that's what is happening. You can stop that by setting the fan to either high or low on the thermostat but then the fan will run constantly and never turn off. There are some posts on here that describe some changes people made to lengthen the amount of time between the hi/low switching but I've never tried it.

The Jeep "shimmy" is not from the RV, it's the Jeep. It's a well known Jeep issue. Do some searching on line. I think Jeep has issued a fix.

I'd say the leak around the slide is definitely a dealer warranty issue. I'd guess there is something bigger going on with the slide or some major seal problem.

We bought ours at a dealer 4-hrs away, but the local FR dealer 25-miles from my home has done all the warranty work on mine quickly and professionally and without complaint.

With the size and complexity of the slide on this model I wouldn't hesitate to get your RV into a dealer.

By the way, we love ours too. It is really a great layout.

Nice looking RV ..I Also just bought a 2017 FORESTER 2861DS..check the air in your rear air bags. Also make sure your rubber gaskets is not stuck in on your slides. Also welcome aboard..

Yep, I would think the slide leak is a warranty issue, but I would check in under slide with it out to see if you can see a gasket is not defective like mentioned above. Love my 3051! Just have to watch my weight. I weight out before I cube out.

Just to add to what the others have said. Looked at a Georgetown 369XL last week and wife noticed she could see sunlight at the bottom corner of the open bedroom slide from the inside. The salesman and I got to looking and found that the factory had omitted the bottom seal gasket on both the living and bedroom slides. Likely not a problem when closed but a major source of air lose/gain when open - not to mention bugs.

The shimmy is a toad issue and the leak is a warranty issue but the dealer probably won't put the effort in to finding the leak. Better off looking yourself. Good luck with your Rv nice looking rig.

ditto on the A/C switching fan speeds. It's a funny way to operate, but that's it.

Thanks everyone for the compliments! Glad to know the A/C issue is not a problem/issue and is normal. I will research the jeep issue and see what I can search out and the possible fix. The concerns voiced above are my concern as well with the leak, that I will take it all the way up to the dealer, leave it for weeks and they really don't even try to correct the issue.

Just call Forest River main number. They will get you in the right direction. I believe it has to be done within 90 days of purchase.

The warranty person I spoke with at FR never mentioned that it had to be done within 90 days which is important in my case. First, the local truck alignment specialist recommended not getting an alignment until you have 2-2.5k on the vehicle to let the suspension components wear in a bit. Next, my vehicle was purchased in Jan and so far I only have about 1750 miles on it mostly because it's now been in the shop getting some sort of repair 8 out of the last 11 weeks. I'm hoping to get it back next week, take another wkd trip or two and then probably bring it in for the alignment sometime in mid-August.

msd, Grats! on the new rig. If you haven't been yet, Cloudland Canyon SP is beautiful and a great place to base when seeing the Chattanooga sites.
