New 3011 DS & Camping World (One Good One Not)

Last week we took our maiden voyage in our new Forester and loved it. Like any new camper, I have been told, there will be things wrong with it and you will need to go to the dealer when you return from your first trip.

We decided to get our motorhome from Camping World because the salesman went on and on about the dealer network and their service department. So like the salesman told us to do I made the list, which included a leaky skylight, a lock that did not work and a dozen other small things, and today I took the hour drive to Camping World in Columbia SC.

Upon arrival I am told that they only work on appointments and I did not have one. I explained what the salesman told me and they were not impressed. So I was given an appointment for next week. I asked if I could leave the MH and return next week to go over my list. I was told no that I would have to drive it home and return later. I asked to speak to the service manager and was told the same thing ... except in a rude way.

You would think for the money I spent with them just a week and a half ago that they would be a little more accommodating and nice.

My relationship with Camping World has started off rocky ... I sure hope they treat me better when I return at my appointed time.

Love the Forester .... was a little surprised at the initial quality of the unit .... stuff like the wallpaper stops a 1/4 from the ceiling on one wall ... its like the ran out but figured it was close enough.

Anyway .... thanks for listening to my RANT and hope to see you in a campground soon ... we have lots of trips planned.

Well, you just learned you made the #1 Newbie mistake.
You believed the salesman.
You should have talked to the service department, to confirm what the salesman told you.
I don't know of any service department that doesn't require appointments, ESPECIALLY during camping high season.

Camping World service

We too purchased a new 5th wheel at Camping World Oxford Alabama with the expectation of good local service. Items were noted on the walk around when we picked it up. pictures were taken and we were told the parts would be ordered. Months later after many emails calls and a second trip back to CW to take the same pictures again. I called the factory only to find nothing was on order for my fiver. I asked to have the warrantee work done else where and drove to Topeka Indiana where the factory is located and had Amish RV Repair do the work. Camping World in my experience will promise and even lie about anything but deliver nothing but aggravation.
