RVW - Update on remco motor coach installation

May have to eat my words. RVW Service Manager is looking into installing this product on the new (ordered) Forester 3011DS.
I am impressed and they really seem to care. Looking forward to the new RV.

No, just the normal towing electrical plug!

Tow Receptacle

That's great. The 7 pin tow receptacle is what we need.

Since you have the same unit that we ordered, got another question:
(Not urgent, you must be tired from your trip)

What is actually installed in your new RV? Brand and model. There are tons of posts on this site with great info., but it would be nice to know, ahead of time, what brand/model is installed. You will probably want this list as a "keeper" for your reference later.

Water heater
Furnace
Converter/charger
Air conditioner
Jacks
Etc.

Thanks,
Psadave46

These are the brands within the RV. Model #'s I will try to look at later.

Water heater - Atwood 6 gallon
Furnace - Suburban gas
Converter/charger - Progress Dynamics.
Air conditioner - Dometic 15000
Jacks - Big foot leveling system

Fridge - Dometic

LCI makes the electronic control panels, and also the living room slide system. LCI also makes the awning system. I'm not happy with that (placement of speakers on top of awning support rails which blocks the slide grooves, not allowing for our sun screen to slide into.

I'm hoping to find some type of hooks that will slide into the grooves, which will then allow me to hang the sun screen from the hooks!

Hope this helps you some !

If it's the Dometic 15k with heat pump the model is most likely a Penguin II

Heat pump and furnace?

Do you still need a furnace if you have a heat pump?
I don't know about heat pumps.

Yes a furnace will heat your coach with 30,000 plus btu's. A heat pump is part of the AC system. It blows warm air from the AC but it only works when outside Temps are no colder than about 40 degrees. Heat pump is great to take the chill out of the rig. When it's cold out we use the furnace.

Thanks for heat pump info.

We just traveled from AZ, where it's 100+ degrees, to Florence, OR to list our vacation home. It's June and temps are in the 50 s here on the coast. Hmm. The heat pump works down to 40. As of today, I hope we never need the furnace. Lol.
Thanks again for the info. on heat pump.
We are really looking forward to getting our new Forester 3011 DS from RVW.
Oh, and they will be installing the coach portion of our Remco lube pump system.

I've actually had success with the heat pump down to about 32 but 40 is a good number to use.

One note on the use of the furnace, if you ever need heat when you don't have electrical hookups, the furnace is handy. It only needs 12 volt to run so no need to be plugged in or run the generator with the furnace....at least as long as your batteries are charged.

We got our Forester 2801 from RVW. Was a great experience and the two owners and brothers are awesome.

It is not a big fancy dealership, but for us it did not need to be !

We are picking up our 3011 from a dealer tomorrow! (Happy dance!) we bought off the lot but the rv was only delivered a week prior to that so hadn't been sitting there long. Any words of advice on the inspection/walk thru we should do with the dealer before we drive off? We are complete newbies. Thanks in advance for any sage advice thrown our way [emoji4]

Go to library at top of screen and then to PDI check list.

Take your time when your doing the RV check. Check all systems on both shore power, and then on generator power. (AC, water pump, water to sinks, shower, toilet, hot water, lights, slides, microwave (paper cup of water to heat) fridge, TVs, stereo, (bring DVD), leveling system, etc. Fridge with ice maker ? Have them turn on water supply to ice maker.

Traveling far to pick up the RV ? Four door fridge ? If so, have them turn on the Fridge the day prior.

Tire pressure to specs on drivers door frame.

Air bags to 70 psi.

I'm sure I missed some things....LOL !

Best of luck and enjoy your new RV !

Great advice from Steeljag and congrats on your purchase. If you can, spend the night in it either at the dealership or a campground close by so you can get a chance to use everything.

Thanks. Anybody figure out the gps thing on the in-dash radio. On their forester literature is says something like "Pioneer radio pairs with smart phone to access gps and other functions" but I didn't see anything about it in the pioneer manual yet.

GPS on Pioneer

What we did to access the GPS on our Pioneer radio, was download AppRadio(free), downloadGenius Maps(fee), download car connectivity(fee). We now can have a GPS on the screen. The fee is a onetime fee and it doesn't use data.

Lacrawgator....what made you decide on the nav map between navmii or genius maps? Both show up as an option to download in AppRadio

Do this no matter how "inconvenient" it may be. If need be stay on the dealer's lot. Get the list mentioned and power up everything and pressure water system. You will likely still have issues but knowledge is power.
