New 3011DS owner

After about a year of deliberations, the wife and I have ordered a 2017 Forester 3011DS!

We were so close to ordering during the summer, but knowing exactly the colors and options we wanted, FR threw us a curve, and changed their interior and exterior colors.....LOL. At that time we could only get pics of of the changes with pics reading " the cabinets colors would look similar the this, the materials would look similar to this", etc.

At about this same time there were numerous posts here about leaks on these units and we just backed off.

We have since bounced back and forth between class C's and an smaller As.

Anyway, the 3011DS had always been are favorite, and looking and researching other makes / models they all seem to have their issues!

I want to thank those who answered my PMs about the Forester, and their buying / ownership experiences. ( GL1800, Jim O'neil, Creativepart, JerJ)) and anyone else I may have bothered this last year !

Pick up date should be early April, and we are excited about getting back to RVing !

We also bought the 3011DS (2016 in April of last year). Spent about 35 nights in it last year and thoroughly enjoyed every one of them.

It's the Supreme Commander, me and the two four-legged fur kids.
Lots of room and storage. Only issues we have had have been minor ones. Of course there was also a couple of "operator errors."

Good Luck and Congratulations!!!

We love our 2016 3011 DS ! Owned it a little over a year. Made a 18 day cross country round trip from Ga to California and back. It handled extremely well.

Thanks everyone for the replys!

Living here in central Fl it's been tough not being able to head out ! Weather has been picture perfect, RVs everywhere with snow birds all here, race fans for race weeks and upcoming Daytona 500 !

It's been a week and a half since we ordered, I better call and see if it's ready yet...LOL !

Welcome!`

We have had our 2013 3011DS for about two years now, and we love it. We did a lot of research as well, and I am happy with our decision. I love the amount of counter space it has as well as the ability to move about the cabin when the slides are closed. I think it drives well for what it is. Not so happy about the gas mileage, but all RVs have that problem if they are big enough.

Good luck with that. Even if, it'll still be around 7. Just embrace the cheap gas for now.

My personal best was about 8.3 MPG. But I'm usually in the 7s as well.

Anyone know if the six speed transmissions get any better gas mileage than the five speed transmission units.

Yup and with the tuner (5 star?) they do a bit better.

I have a Concord which is a tad smaller and a bit more aerodynamic, getting 8-9 mpg right out of the gate. Hope to see that improve a bit as things get broken in. I don't have the tuner... yet. In the grand scheme of things I consider fuel cost to be near the bottom of the list. Mods are what kill the budget!
