So I’m new to all this-what is the secondary drain pipe that looks like the sewer line?

If I understand your question correctly, it is the grey tank drain. Oh, WELCOME!

It might help if you said what make/model/year your rig is. Someone with the same one can help you with specific info.

Generally speaking, you will have a large line from your black tank, with a smaller line going into it for the grey tank. See pic below.

Some units have 2 grey tanks; one is usually near the black tank and is plumbed into the black tanks drain as in the pic above, while the other one has it's own sewer hose connection. However, on some units, the two grey tanks are plumbed together. When they are, they can be either plumbed into the black drain line OR have their own sewer hose connection.

How your unit is plumbed is usually dictated by the floor plan layout and what stuff (axles, etc) that may be between the tanks and the sewer connections.

See post #16 in the link below for a bunch of info for newbies on electric, propane and water heaters that Site Team member wmtire has put together.

And welcome to the forum from northern Illinois.

rockford, the OP put this in the Forester sub-forum, so I assume that's what they own.

I understand, but not sure why you are pointing that out. I don't think I said anything that was "wrong."

Since I don't know exactly what the OPs plumbing layout may look like, I was simply trying to describe the many ways that RV's waste tanks can be plumbed.

Only because you had asked for make of RV.
Thought you missed that.
Didn't mean to offend.

No, I was saying that so maybe someone could give them SPECIFIC info on THEIR rig:

"Someone with the same one can help you with specific info."

rockfordroo, I think bikendan is just the grammer, punctuation czar who goes far out of the way to explain things in detail that eveyone else can infer on their own. With about 15K posts he must not have anything else to do.

He's on our Site Team, hence the large number of posts. He keeps us on the straight and narrow and does a good job at it.

Sometimes we all mis-read posts (I know I do!).
