No power without battery???

Still trying to figure out all the idiosyncrasies of the Ď18 3051. Found something today Iíve never encountered with any previous RV.

While doing a subwoofer install I turned the battery disconnect switch off and everything on the unit quit. All 12 volt DC and 110 AC disappeared. All lights, refrigerator, air conditioner, etc. Checked the power hookup (30 amp at home) and all was normal coming from the box to the power inlet. When I reconnected the rotary switch it was like the entire unit had rebooted. Had to turn the A/C back on, wait for the OneControl to finish its startup so I could get lights, set microwave clock, etc.

Every previous unit only took the battery offline when disconnecting. All 12 volt items continued to operate normally with power being provided by the converter. AC always operated with no change regardless of batt disconnect status.

Curious if this is normal for a Forester or is further troubleshooting required.

At some point during every day you suddenly realize nothing else productive is going to happen the rest of that day. For me, it usually occurs around 9 am.

The battery disconnect on my 2017 2861 does not operate that way. If on shore power, all 120v circuits remain on, and the converter continues to supply 12v to some circuits and charge the batteries. It only disconnects 12v circuits that could drain the battery in storage, such as CO detector, TVs, DVD player, usb outlets.

I would check it out further.

Edit, I am on the road, but was able to find the wiring diagram I created for my 2861 from the forum files, this may help.

My 2501TS operates in the same way. Iíve always thought it was weird, but this is my first motorhome and just kinda figured thatís how they all work. Now youíve got me thinking somethingís wrong with mine too. Certainly annoying to lose everything when Iím hooked up to shore power and just trying to work in the battery bay on something.

I talked to a factory support guy who said the mentioned operation is normal.
