Oven Delete = less storage?

If you order the Convection oven which deletes the propane oven, is it true that the resulting drawer or cabinet space is less than the interior of the propane stove?

I wouldn't think so. We did that with our 3171DS and they replaced it with 2 full drawers deep enough for pots and pans. We thought it was a good deal.

I guess I would ask what floor plan and why you would ask?

I can see where using stock drawer sizes might not utilize 100% of the space, but it would be way more functional than storing things in a propane oven.

Was a part of a conversation that I had with a dealer just a few hours ago. As well as the whole operational range of the artic package. Dealer claims this is what his factory rep told him on both counts.
The floorplan is the 3171ds.

The oven delete and artic package were not on the models he had on the lot and this is the tactic he chose to drive down the objection.

Another element he discussed is that the convection oven uses a different cabinet due to the depth of the unit, so that would certainly have to be a factory mod.

Given the general mindset here I am not married to the idea of the tank heaters any more.

Oh and the forester I was inquiring about is supposedly sold and he introduced me to a sunseeker with cool breeze package. Stated it is still 30amp and rear AC can not be run when on shore power.

They are a good dealer for us and while I can't say it is 100% accurate it's certainly not inaccurate.

The arctic pack I would personally forgo. If it had it, I would not object (again, power switch) but I would ask they not make me pay for it (semantics).

Some people "Must" have the convection no matter what. If it's more of a storage issue, then yes lots of people store things in the oven. On a 24 foot unit I would probably prefer the two drawers, in the 3010 it has tons of storage. Where other mfgs delete overheads (and give you a nice big picture window...on the utility side) we leave them in over the dinette and sofa. Plus the 3010 has 6 drawers already. So again, unless you are an avid convection person...the oven is fine. While they could be steering you to a stock unit (never any surprises there) they are not leading you astray. They make valid points.

As for the cool breeze package, that is unique unit designed for some severe heat. They are correct, shore power only runs the main A/C...BUT that unit is also equipped with a 5.5 Onan gen and the GEN will power both A/C units.

Before anyone asks, sorry it is not an option. It was a limited run for a dealer in desert environments.

Oh, and they are correct. The convection cabinet is 2" deeper than the micro. I've asked about making them all the same, but engineering says the convection one covers the range by an extra 2", I feel like the range vent does that all on its own.

So the convection option was attractive for additional storage, and in most RV groups I couldn't find too many propane RV oven fans, adding fuel to my fire :-)

Now to decide if I like the sunseeker as equipped better than the forester. Sigh.

I would like to comment that we have a propane oven and we use it often.
Now we have a microwave and not a convection oven. However you do need to be on shore power to run a convection oven, propane oven works when your not plugged in. The other issue is when you don't have a 50 amp hookup. We've had to live with only a supposed 30 amp feed that I don't think will even give us 30amps !
We have to juggle what appliances, air conditioners (we have 2), whether our hot water tank is on hydro or propane ! We can't run both air so we turn the living room main off and run the bedroom air overnight. The bedroom air we had it installed later and did not want it to feed the ceiling ducts and it has it's own controls. Usually we run our hot water tank on propane to run air and fridge etc. we have to shut the air off to make toast ! So the same would apply for a convection oven!
So as a previous member said you can put stuff in the oven when your not using it ! But if you don't have a 50 amp which is 2 legs of 50 amp for a 100 amps total with the propane oven you can cook in it and still run your main air conditioner ! You do run the oven exhaust fan but you really don't want to turn the air off to run a convection oven !

Another god point for the oven (assuming you don't need the space). Dry camp cooking. No 110v power needed.
