Please help settle this little debate!
We have a 3051s and after staying in it for 4 months I decided to flip the mattress. Well that can't happen so we decided to flip it end for end. Then I noticed that one end is square and the other is rounded. I thought that having the rounded end at the foot of the bed would make it easier to get around the bed but now the frame corners stick out. This all brought the debate as to which end of the mattress is the head and foot. I'm saying the rounded end is the foot but I'm a guy, what do I know. Thanks in advance for your replies.

My units all have had short queen radius mattresses and the plywood platforms have been cut to accommodate the radius at the foot. Sounds like the platform you have is not made for a radius mattress if the plywood platform does not overhang the box. If it does a jig saw comes in handy if you don't intend to rotate again.

In our Georgetown the RV Queen mattress is also rounded corners at one end, and square at the other. It’s also only a pillow top on one side.
In an attempt to make it easier to get around the bed, the square corners are at the head of the bed, the rounded corners at the foot of the bed and match the rounded frame corners.

Consider the possibility that the platform was installed backwards.

Ours is the same. Can’t turn over and square at one end and rounded at other. Squared platform also. Hurts knees to put new sheets on. Might try rounding off at firm.

I have the same model. Tried the same options except flipping over as I have a pillow top. Based on the design of the base (square corners at the foot) the rounded end of the mattress is at the head of the bed. I don’t see it as an issue but wondered why it was necessary to have ‘squared’ Edges at the foot which is the walk around area and I would rather save my knees !!!

Sounds like most would agree that your platform does not match the mattress you have. Queen short mattresses seem to be the most common in Georgetown products and most, but not all other brands. If you intend to keep the mattress, cut the platform IF it will still be supported correctly. The other option might be to buy a mattress to match your platform which if selected carefully could be more comfortable. In general, mattresses usually work best with a box spring under them. Could you buy a square box spring and use the mattress you have? Happier knees and less expense.

This post made sense to me, since very few things about how my Camper was built make sense to me...sigh.

Why can't you flip it side to side?

Same here on my 3051. The foot is squared so the radius has to be at the head. I see no reason why they use a radius mattress at all on this model. The foot can not be cut to a radius without completely rebuilding the bed frame as the platform does not overhang the frame at all, and there is plenty of room at the head for a non radius mattress.
FYI the mattress is a full Queen (60x80).

The top and bottoms of most mattresses supplied with RV’s are not the same and meant to only be slept on one side. Pillow tops and other things make them wear out quicker.

Okay got your responses.
I need to talk to the person that said my "wife is right" but anyway. The frame is square, so I guess it was made for that type of matress and not what's in there. I will purchase a new one when necessary but again which end is the foot (rounded end) or the head (square end) my thoughts, the wife thinks the opposite! Doesn't really matter as long as we get a good nights sleep does it? Happy travels everybody.

Rounded end is the bottom. Bought fitted sheets. The fitted end of the top sheet is rounded.

I would just purchase a new mattress and call it good. When they need flipping, they need replacing.

Your guess is as good as mine.
My GF takes care of the bedding and kitchen stuff. I take care of the rest.

The platform that you have is just like mine. The curved portion of the platform is less dramatic than the curved portion of the mattress. The plywood stuck out.
I found a mattress company in Stark, Florida that makes any type and size mattress you want. We bought a pillow top, individually coil spring, queen short, 12" thick mattress to replace ours and the radius of the new mattress fits the platform. Best investment we ever made.
Oh, and now the fitted sheets are really fitted!
