Propane generator

Just purchased a 2401w MBS with a propane generator. Already feeling like I might regret that it's a propane generator. Anyone have any experience with one. Difficulty finding a place to fill it up while on the road is a major concern. We go on a week long trip each year without campground stays. Use the generator a lot during the trip.

Flying Js have propane. If you have a towd, you might be able to do an ExtendAStay set up for the genny. That way you can use the 20 lb tanks and swap for new at Wal-Mart. I did that for heat, reefer and hot water. A lot easier taking one of them to swap the the RV. We use on board just for traveling.

Often referred to as a toad. (towed)

It's a vehicle you pull/tow behind your motorhome.

Deuce was suggesting if you have another vehicle in which to go get 20 lb. propane tanks filled, you could convert the genny to run of them and when empty, take the tanks in the toad, for refilling. You'd not need to move the motorhome that way.

A car you tow behind your RV.

Gotcha. I was thinking about that. Put a tee in the line with shut offs. So when parked I could switch to a portable tank and when moving use the welded in tank. Didn't know if anyone else had better ideas than that.

It works just fine. I carry two 20lb bottles and when set up, i switch to one of them using the Extend-A-Stay fittings. I could carry just one bottle, but that's how i am.

Never had a problem finding a propane refill. Not as efficient as a gas generator and a little louder but still works good like it should. Like others if needed put an extend-a-stay connector.
