Reaching the front cap
How do you reach the front cap on a class C to wax it. Is it safe to lean an extension ladder on the cap to reach the front . A step ladder does not allow to reach far enough (safely) to wax the front cap. Any help is appreciated.

I use a 10' stepladder and reach as far as I can from each side and the front. Then I climb on the roof, lay on my stomach and wax down to where I waxed up to. While I'm on the roof I double check all my seams and seals.

Check on the lights themselves. In our 3051 they are there and not in a switch.

Somewhere on a thread here there is a post about something an owner built for just that. Think the gut some used scaffold items and modified to work for them.
If I remember correctly it was for a Dynamax in case that helps the search.
Personally I'd rig something up before I put the ladder against mine. May not be a problem but not worth risk to me.

I use two step ladders and a 2 x 10 between them. It does require some "gymnastic" skills, at which I'm limited!

Thanks all. Will try laying on my stomach like you said. At 66 years old I don't want to try too many gymnastics.

I am 70 years old and this works for me: I open the hood and rest an extension ladder on the leading edge of the hood. I put a foam pool noodle on the edge of the hood to protect it, I used a jumbo noodle about 4 inches in diameter and cut it lengthwise. I make sure the bottom of the ladder is anchored so it will not move, I have a gravel driveway so easy to do, if on concrete I would try tying off to the front of the RV. I can move the ladder sideways to access the entire cap.

Sorry for hacking the thread...
The switch is on the edge of the fixture and slides to the left to turn on. Sorry for the sideways pictures.
I see you are from Titusville. FYI there will be a Florida FROG rally in Williston Sept 28th and ending Oct. 1st. Registration will open sometime next month. Would love to have you join us.

On ours, there is a small switch, same color as the lens itself. I seem to remember it being around the edge of the lens -just feel around

Front Cap
Could you possibly use a ladder you are comfortable with and a product like a Swifter or something like that?

Basically what I do. Gave up on perfection. Rubber band a damp cloth to swifter or truck windshield squeegee/scrubber head, soak with "wipe on - let dry - wipe off" wax (like Turtle Wax spray), apply liberally, let dry, replace the damp wax-soaked cloth with a dry cotton towel tied on, wipe off. With the truck windshield cleaner (windshield squeegee/scrubber with a long, extendable handle) I can reach from the ground. The scrubbing side (sponge wrapped in plastic scrubber) also helps clean the bugs off earlier in the process.

You can use an extension ladder. I would wrap the sides with a towel duct taped in place to protect the cap though.

I built 2 tall saw horses and use 3 2x4s across the top and a 4x8 thick sheet of ply board over the 2x4s. I purchased the ready made saw horse brackets and can remove a few screws and lean the whole thing against a wall. Took some measuring to get the width and height just right but it is sturdy and I can really get some work done on the cap!

I've done it this way but don't recommend it. I used some small lumber blocks to level the hood and put a rubber mat on it to protect the paint and give traction.
I like the previous post of tall saw horses and plywood. I'll do that next time.

I was having the same problem and purchased some scaffolding from Harbor Freight while it was on sale. I use the 8' step ladder to easily get on the scaffolding. It has a little wobble when extended to full height, but still very sturdy. I use some boards to make sure it is level on uneven ground.

We just went thru washing and waxing and this is the solution we came up with. I took a sponge mop (cheap one from Big Lots) wrapped a microfiber washcloth folded in half over it and secured it with large safety pins on the top so they wouldn't come in contact with the rig. This allowed me to use pressure on bugs etc. After applying the wax, took the washcloth off replaced it with a microfiber towel folded in fourths. It did the job. Rig looks great. Used the Meguires rv and marine because I had read her it was good...Thanks all. Bought it on Amazon. It looks like the day we brought it home!!
