Refueling and running Ginney

I was wondering how many leave their generators and A/C running while refueling.

Cosco is the only place I have fueled where they have a REAL person who tells people to "Turn OFF your Engines"! Youroo!! Unless you are talking about like at the Campsite,this is a "Complete NO NO" the unit Must be COOL to Touch,Before Refuling!

Maybe I wasn't clear. I was referring to on board generator on motorhome.

Seems to me that my running gen is further away from where I refuel the most than the car that is running on the other side of the pump.

I leave my generator running when refueling. I do shut the vehicle engine off though. Not sure why I do that, I really don't think it's going to blow stuff up either way.

I normally leave MH engine running. If the genny is running, I also leave it running.

Many pumps have warning labels that state: Turn off your vehicle before fueling, No smoking, only approved containers, approved containers must be on the ground and not in the vehicle and such. Also the RV refrigerator running on propane in the gas station. But I have seen them ALL ignored many times although they have the force of law in most states. I just hope that no innocent person is next to them when they go up. You can get away with ignoring the warnings thousands of times UNTIL you don't.

Our local Sam's Club has started to enforce it, but yea not many places have a person out at the pumps anymore.

Why risk it? Our generator exhaust is right below the fuel filler location. Odds are slim to none, but one time a fire starts you no longer have a MH.

Lived in Oregon all my life and it is a "no pump your own" state. Here awhile back I pulled in to fuel, killed the engine, jumped out to give the attendant the card. Realized the generator was running and I asked if I needed to kill it also. Apparently according to law it is OK to have a generator running.

Then there is the debate about killing a propane refer while fueling. I am in the kill it camp.

Yepi read all the time of gas stations blowing up because of someones rv fridge or gen set running .
Your more likely to cause a issue with a static shock then with the other

I've never seen gas ignite when just spilled on a hot surface . if it did my motorcycle and thousand others would be charcoal .A spark yes , open flame hits gasoline vapor yes .but gas vapor is heaver then air and most rv fidges are a few feet off the ground

Don't know about Forester but the Georgetowns have an ignition interlock that locks out fridge ignition for about 15 minutes when ignition is shut off. Used for refueling purposes. Forester may be the same. Of course, if the fridge is a residential type, not an issue.
