Great job Ben. Looks like you covered up CW's poor fix job. Only one 50' roll? Did you use eternabond' prep?

I washed all the areas with hot soap and water, then rinsed and let dry for a day. I did buy the eternabond prep and started to use it on the back but it was a bit windy and gave up and finished the job without it. Will see how it holds up.
One thing for sure, once you remove the backing on the eternabond tape and lay it down, you're not going to move it if you make a mistake.

Just a little over an inch.

Ok. I was thinking that would seem to be the best compromise between not having too much of the eternabond being seen from a side view of the RV and still providing enough coverage on that side of the seam so as to not have the tape start peeling off over time. That and you'd probably want more of the tape on the roof side anyway as that is where the real problem resides.

Eternabond
Since my roof edge is grey, perhaps I should get that color eternabond tape. But I noticed that it doesn't come in 6" only 4". I would need 2 rolls to cover all the way around.
Also, I see different product numbers for roofs. Are they all the same or do we need to get something specific to RVs and not home roofs?

We do not have a painted rig so on the sides I used the 6 inch tape and went over the seam and all the way down around the curved edges of the roof to the top of the gutter. Since both the tape and the roof edges are white you really don't notice the tape (and I'm pretty fussy about this stuff!!) when you view the rig from the ground unless you know to look for it.

I started on the sides with 3 or 4" of Eternabond and trimed it to fit around the end of the gutter. The tricky part of applying the top piece of eternabond is working your way over the curved ends without large wringles or the tape getting stuck together.

Agreed. On an RV without the full paint, that is definitely an option. In my case where we have the full paint, I will be trying to do this in a manner that is not observable from street level.

Did the water get inside or roof delamination? Regardless this is bad, I felt sick when going the work on the roof of our RV, awful experience!

What is bottom line fix for leaks?
I'm reading all the posts about leaks and wondering what is the summary?
What is the bottom line? What do I do now. Should I 1) buy caulking and start caulking everywhere I see a crack or 2) take it to RV Dealer and have them do a whole new roof. My new-to-me 2011 Sunseeker 2650 has leaks everywhere. Every screw holding things to the ceiling are rusty. I just tore out the front over cab floor to get rid of mold. I pulled of the internal fan covers to see what kind of roof material I had, but there isn't any coming down the sides in my vent fans. Previous owner has a history of fixing only a few leaks. I see gobs and gobs of sealant on the roof. Do I just look for cracks and add more gobs of sealant? Or pick it off and start over. If I have it professionally redone, will it be done a lot better than originally? Is there any such life as no leaks? If not

Leak in Front Cap
We just finished installing solar panels (no drill) only one hole for the wires which are covered by the wire gland, self leveling lap and eternabond tape Last week (7/25/21).
We had several rain storms this past week, and we went in to do clean up and the cab over cushion was wet and on the driver side it was dripping from the very front where there are screws and that trim plastic that covers it. We undid that screw to let the water drip and clean up the bunk.
My husband just put on self leveling lap sealant along that seam on the roof and when that dries were are going to put the eternabond tape along that entire seam.
After seeing this thread we are going to get more eternabond tape and do all the seams on the roof.
I am thinking with the walking on the roof it created the leak.

Quite possibly...
I did most of my Eternabond roof sealing on an 8 foot high stepladder propped against the side of my trailer. The front, rear and side seams were all easily reached doing this and I did not have to crawl on top.

Thanks for all the post in here. I’m leaving my response to help the next guy. Had a little gap I was just going to seal up no big deal. Well after I looked closer the screws had broken off. So nothing was holding it down. You could feel the ac blowing out of it.
I cut all the caulking back and pulled the screw cap off. Put a screw in between factory screws. Found a few broken screws. And looked like they missed 2 holes from the factory. Put the cap back on and put some tape down so I could have a nice line. Put some self leveling on it and going to check it every time I get gas!
