Question Rooftop Antenna Cable

Just got a Forester 2401R with a King Jack antenna on the roof. There is about 3 feet of loose cable running up from a hole in the roof over to the antenna and then disappearing back inside. It's gotten snagged on tree branches and now it is a loop sticking up about a foot from the roof surface, just waiting for something to get caught and pull it loose. Is this normal? What can I do? Thanks!
