I think they make a Direct TV King Tailgater but it costs quite a bit more and doesn't receive HD signals.

Is that the King Quest rather than King Tailgater?

Interesting point Bob brought up. With the ViP211z only having a HDMI output cable, you can't watch satellite on the other TVs without another receiver. Or run a long HDMI from the other TVs to the inside receiver.. I guess that wouldn't be too difficult for the outside TV routing it, but the bedroom TV would be.

King Flex....with Direct, only std. def., but with Dish, hd......my Direct receiver is an older one, no hdmi, so I wired, with coax, the trailer pin area, the rear ladder area, and the awning side.....so, when I place the Flex, depending on how I'm sett;n, I made mounts to keep the Flex off the ground and no long runs of coax lay'n on ground for the dogs to get tangled up in......

Question?? I see RCA plugs on my ViP211z. Can I connect the ones on the back of the livingroom TV to it and have surround sound via the dash radio to the overhead speakers and sub-woofer?

I don't see how. The surround/sub are supplied by the dash GPS/DVD player, not the TV.

Are you saying your TV plays through those speakers now??

I'm just lucky that when I bought my dish receiver for my travel trailer 4 or so years ago that I got the ViP 211 with all the right outputs. Pure luck on my part.

Checking the amp draw with my Xantrex battery monitor, the Vip22z draws just under 5 amps and the 32" TV about 2 amps. So watching Sat TV while boondocking off the grid will draw a total of 7amps per hour. Should be able to keep the daily total draw to under 100 amps (50% of 2 group 27 amp cap)even running the furnace during the night. Recharge in the morning with generator and or solar.

If still available, the tailgater VIP-211K (what I have at home. I just take it camping) has both coax and HDMI outputs. Of course the coax output will only be SD. The Tailgater does pick up 3 satellites and if all three cannot be picked up due to trees (happens a lot) etc. SD from 2 sat's can still provide viewing.
