Both on our 2014.

When we picked it up in Feb the Dealer heated and put back in place. Of course it is out on both sides again at the bend in the channel.

Probably find some cream color new online and just live with the custom full body paint not being there on both sides.

I have learned when dealing with RVs,,, to overlook many things !!!

You would think that when there is a continuing problem like this that the factory would re-design the strip, or at least make it a little longer. It really doesn't seem like rocket science, but it does seem like a stupid irritation for us owners. What do they have engineers for anyway, although I don't think it should take an engineer to figure this one out.
By the way, does anyone know if there is a factory rep that still follows this forum anymore? Brian Clemens used to be here every day, but he moved on to bigger things.

I don't think there is a FR Rep, except Brian, who is on actively the forum. Joshua Cavitt, at Sunseeker / Forester used to be on line but according to his profile he hasn't logged in since 06-19-2017 08:47 AM.

Given the problems that people have experienced with this strip it almost makes sense not too use any screws or at least no screw on the top. This may allow the strip to contract without pulling it out of the channel at the corner. While this does necessarily address the paint alignment issue directly, it may allow the strip to be pulled downwards to align the paint as much as possible and on the top a small piece can be added to fill in the gap.

It sure would !!!
All they would have to do is install vinyl trim after the unit was painted !!!
It is amazing how some of us with maybe very little education can figure these things out !!!

I have a 2016 Sunseeker 2400R MBS. I am the second owner but on mine there is a screw, painted, right in the center of that trim piece. Maybe the factory has fixed this issue.

Not fixed as of Nov. 2016 when my 2017 Forester was built.
August 2017 factory tech unscrewed strip, repositioned to line up paint stripes, added a screw to the strip, both horizontal and vertical, at the bend and replaced original screws. I used the supplied touch-up paint on the screw heads afterward.
No issues since but next summer in the South will tell.
If it happens again I have a roll of coping that will suffice.
The factory techs discussed among themselves who to advise at the factory about this. Hopefully they followed through.

No issues with are trim piece yet I have
Been nervously keeping a eye on it .
Was thinking of throwing 2 screws one on
Bottom of bend then one on top to lock
It in place then use the body paint touch
Up bottles to match the screws up like mentioned above .

Us too

Our 2017 2401W is at the dealer now and trim is being replaced. Thought it would be an easy fix but Shop said Forest River gave them bad color codes and they are having trouble matching the paint. Fingers crossed it wont take too long. It's out in the snow! LOL!

Good luck with the repair. We you given a set of paints when you purchased your rig? We saw a rv driving down the highway the other day with the screw strip flying out about six ft from it. Driver seemed oblivious. I agree that there has to be a better solution for something to cover the screws. These units aren't cheap but the screw strip vinyl looks like crap.

I believe it is the wrong time of year to be working with vinyl trim,,,unless they have a heated shop !!!

I was thinking the same thing and probably wont be attempting any repairs until the weather warms up.

With the vinyl material being cold, it is not likely to shrink (again) after the repair.

Mine just did it on the driver's side. Guess I will be making an appointment for after we get back in the spring.

True but it in the colder weather my guess is that is would also be stiffer and harder to work with. Since I don't have a warmer indoor facility to work in I'm just gonna wait it out.

You could save yourself a lot of time by getting the trim from your local dealer and replacing it yourself,,, leaving it 2 or 3 inches too long !!!
